Thanks pimpernel, that sounds right as I heard her go over again this afternoon at 14:10 heading the same way as yesterday. Thanks again for your reply.

That’s great Easy Tiger, thanks for posting the picture. I wondered how it was coming along but was frightened to ask after all the hassle last time from others:D

Hi Mark12, I wonder do you know what the official cause of the crash was attributed to? Thanks in anticipation.

The Tiger Moth is flown from the rear when solo, as is the DH60. Passengers would be carried in the front cockpit. As for training the student would occupy the rear cockpit and the instructor the front, a bit like side by side seating in modern aeroplanes the student is always in the left hand seat (pilot’s side) and instructor in right hand side (passenger side). Regarding the DH60 as far as I know only the stick was removeable and not the rudder bar as per Avro Avian’s post above.

Well I’m very sad to hear this, I didn’t know him personally only through emails but he always came over as a thoroughly decent chap.

Thanks Bill T, yes it is well worth getting the book an excellent read and thanks for the link. I had a DBD34 Goldie scrambler about 40 years ago, gave £45:00 for it, wish I had it now. Wal Handley is buried in Yardley according to the book, but where exactly it doesn’t say.

Thanks Lazy8,for the rapid response and the interesting link. Wonder why it was scrapped. I appreciate that in those days they weren’t valued but it does seem an awful shame looking back at things.
