According to a guy on the WIX forum it’s owned by Tom and Dan Friedkin, are they “Spitfire the One Ltd”?

Hi Robert I did a Sopwith Camel one a few years ago, this was in a terrible state and had become delaminated in places amd infact you couldn’t see any markings in the hub. I damped the wood and made up some clamps that they wouldn’t do any damage then re-glued the blades where they were de-laminating. After the glue had set and all was dry I went all over it with fine wire wool, than damped it again let it dry and repeated the wire wool process, I then re-varnished it with “Randolph Spar Varnish”. I was amazed how the rich colour came back, but perhaps I was just lucky also you could clearly see all the markings on the hub, which were practically invisible before. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply kev35, I didn’t realise he was a pilot, always thought he was an observer for some reason. Many thanks for clearing up that misconception of mine.

Hi, can’t see the serial number on the photo that you posted and can’t seem to be able to enlarge it to see better. No doubt someone will be along just now that can help. Nice photo though.

Ok thanks Mike, didn’t realise they were different configuration, but nice to know it’s still there. As an aside if it’s not to difficult to answer briefly, what are the main differences in configuration between the two? Thanks

Wasn’t there a 2-seater Hispano one in Texas that was used in the Battle of Britain film. What happened to that, is it still there ?

Definitely from an aero-engine (but with a automotive connection)…

…not Tiger Moth…..not many ‘V’-configured engine Tiger Moths about? 🙂

    Hispano-Suiza?
