No real regrets for me.
Went to college did Electronic Engineering.
Worked for a few big companies, then started my own company, ran that for twelve years, sold it last year and had a year off to look at aeroplanes.
I’m now starting a new career (at 42) at a Government quango(?)–administering legislation brought in by ‘Two Jags’.
The money’s rubbish but the T&C’s are good and no one works very hard.
I married a great woman, Vanessa (Hurricane Bird) who puts up with all my funny little ways and we’re still in love after 16 years.
Do I consider myself fortunate?–you’re damn right I do.
I’m most fortunate that my parents were the sort of people who instilled into both me and my sister that with a bit of education and hard work a person can go far–and that my dad drove a truck six days a week to give us the things he never had.
I’m seeing my parents after work tonight–remind me to tell them that.
Not smug (at least I hope not)–just thankful.
