Really? As I know what I’ve got and what it should look like, and you clearly don’t… ๐ Never liked Putnams. Popular with quite the wrong sort of person.
James
I’ve always been quite the wrong sort of person.
Just can’t help myself. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
Oi, you, Beds boy. Back on topic, NOW!
Monty’s double will come and get you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐
Certainly Andy, im saddened its been seen as that but like I said, no more words on the matter. Im very envious of you seeing Milligan by the way. The closest I have got, or ever will get, was seeing a stage show about the goons in Leeds recently. It highlighted the effects that Milligans time in the war had on him.
best regards, steve
Hi Steve
No hard feelings I hope-certainly non here.
Milligan was a)very rude and b) very rude about most things. He also spent quite a bit of the evening playing Jazz with his guests (I can’t remember who they were now). It was a good night as I recall.
I once lent my Dad the first three volumes of Spike’s war memoirs and when I got them back the comment was ‘they were the realistic books I’ve ever read on the war’. My dad is an eighth army vet and was in many of the places and at the times Milligan was there himself.
Milligan was very rude in his books about Gracie Fields and her voice. My Dad and a few of his friends were invited to lunch at her villa on Capri once and they all enjoyed it tremendously. She, of course sang for them after.
Sorry to get diverted.
Cheers
Andy
Well here’s my list:
1. Intolerant people.
Oh and,
11) People that come from towns beginning with the letter ‘C’
EG. Congleton and Croydon. ๐
Well , im in a minority it appears but I stick with my opinion. I still think the picture isn’t funny and the original idea of the game being played today(which was not a jokey matter orginally) isn’t my cup of tea. It still though has nothing to do with being politically correct (Andy, if you knew me you would soon realise that this is not the case in the slightest and perhaps you would have rephrased) but, i shall state again, taste. Anyway life is full of different opinions, which is why it is grand. Im prepared for it to be me last remark on the matter
Thanks Andy for the Sellers/Milligan tale, not heard that one before. Always good to hear some Goon trivia! ๐
Ying tong and Best Regards ๐ steve
ps- its back to the top of the shop anna so you can enjoy some more flames if thats what you are after.

I think we’re big enough to agree to differ. I certainly can live without another war.
The Milligan story came from the horses mouth so to speak as I saw him live once. I was still a student so it must have been early 1980’s.
It was the Theatre Royal in Norwich.
Milligan had played Ipswich the day before and claimed that he had ‘died’ there and went on and on about it. He then told the Seller’s story.
Perhaps he told every audience that he died in the previous town.
Cheers

Bad idea, really bad idea!!

Ok MOTF and Steve
Here are mine.
1) People who delude themselves (and tell me) that they go to work for something other than the money.
2) Management speak.
3) Old people who want everything to be slanted in their favour and say things like ‘I fought a war for you lot’. (my own father is a WW2 vet and nothing like that).
4) People who go all dreamy about how wonderful WW2 must have been.
(it wasn’t–I learned that from dad).
5) People who like committees and sitting on them–invariably they’re w*nkers.

Ok.
Can we finalise on Sunday 16th January?
One or two people will have trouble with the Saturday.
Let me know please.
Andy
I am the Chairman of the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, and we would be pleased to show a group around !
We would even open up on a Saturday if anyone is interested …

‘Twas 1992 – a cracking year – perhaps the last “vintage” ‘boro. The Yaks only flew on the Thursday and amazed all with the deafening racket. Most of the aircraft flew accreditation routines but few actually flew for the public.

Yes, it is tasteless, crude and crass – that’s why it’s funny. Never mind ๐
Spike Milligan once told a story about his mate Peter Sellers.
Peter ‘died’ on stage at a show in Coventry and he was so incensed that the next morning he went to the library, found out the names and numbers of the squadrons that had done the bombing and sent them all a Christmas card!!
Life must be so tedious for some of you people who live in a humour free politically correct wilderness. I’m with Moggy on this one.
Lighten up for Christ sake.

Andy.
PS Wasn’t the bloke with the sticker on his head in the map picture at Nuremburg??. I think he sat next to Goering looking worried (so would I if the prospect for the next twenty five years was Spandau prison).
If it wasn’t the same bloke–it should have been.
Hi Steve
sorry, I’ve been off-line.
Yes, very interested.
Thanks for posting.

Hey, You clean that plane well, will check for flys and OIL ๐ฎ ๐ฎ Much to much talk  ๐ ๐ ๐ Anna ๐ ๐ ๐
Anna
Did you watch the Jimmy and Kyle video??
Your kind of guys I reckon!! ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
Hi all
To get back to the original question.
The display with the most X-Factor ever is the jet powered Waco biplane displayed by Jimmy Franklin and his son Kyle.
Jimmy flies the jet powered Waco while Kyle does proper wing walking–non of your tied on a special bracket stuff here. He even does it as the biplane goes vertical under jet power. This is a truly awesome display. I’ve been going to airshows since 1970 and I really did believe there was nothing else left to leave me open-mouthed. This did !!!
I saw the display at the CAF airsho at Midland, Texas, standing next to Mrs Patterson (Allison) who said exactly what I was thinking–“We’ve come all the way to Texas to see someone die!”
Fortunately Jimmy and Kyle finished the display in one piece.
Wonderful!
See this link:-

Watch the video.
He actually does much more than it shows.
Cheers
Andy
Relations???
Hi Patty
I’ve just put a ruler across a set of drawings I have for the MB2 and going on the height of the lower wing from the ground against the drawings it makes those two gentlemen close to six feet tall!
Are you sure they’re your relatives?
I suppose they at least would have been allowed into the RAeS. ๐ ๐ ๐
Cheers
Andy
Irritant…
Some people know why I think this….
