I very sorry to hear your bad news this morning. I know you’ve been on a rocky road lately.
My answer today may surprise you a bit but may I suggest you pity them?
Imagine being educated to standards of the modern state system and being only capable of believing what comes out of the ‘haunted fishtank’ in the corner and thinking that Basingstoke was the whole World–then think what you know and feel and have seen and done.
See my point?

Other than that, beating the little c**ts to death with a claw hammer in front of their immediate family members would give me so much satisfaction.

Fail to see what on earth you are on about (or did another member ask you to post it?).
Do you subscribe to Bowls International? The fact that this is another publication by Keys Publishing Ltd might mean that their readers have just as much right to participate in these forums as anyone else.
Attitudes that say that someone has no right here stink. Do you post on the modern military forum? Commercial, maybe? General aviation possibly. Or just historic?
Just in case you hadn’t noticed this is a public forum – in so much as you do not have to be a subscriber to any of the publications involved, nor even prove that you read them. Are you so disgusted that someone from outside that strict group is allowed to post on this forum that you are happy to point the finger? Point it at Snapper too – he does not buy Flypast either.
I don’t know you at all – have met you just once at Legends when you seemed to be feeding the multitude (I did not partake, but thank you all the same). You seemed a friendly chap then, yet you now seem happy to kick someone out (or make motions toward) because Robbo does not get on with her. Do you know what Robbo has been up to recently? When Colonial Bird was ignoring his taunts – as I have since July, incidentally – he didn’t bother to stop, instead he seemed to double his efforts by emailing her instead. Good old Robbo…
Andy, look back at the (surviving) posts that Robbo and Colonial Bird have made and then judge for yourself who is the aggressor. Then come back here and post your feelings – or PM me instead (totally confidential).

Well, I’ll answer this one point by point if I may.
1) Although Robbo is a friend of mine I certainly don’t need him (or anyone else) to tell me what to post here or anywhere else. Robbo knows what I think of the way many of the threads go here–I’ve expressed them to him directly.

2) This isn’t strictly a public forum. It’s moderated and paid for by Key Publishing and has an aviation orientated ethos and always has. We are really their guests here as last week proved when the site was down.

3) I’m aware that Key publish other magazines and periodicals. Is there a link from the ‘Bowls International’ website to here? If there is I accept that this is a general discussion forum for all of Key’s publications. However, if not I stand by my assertion that this is an overflow for the related aviation sites.

4) I’m not disgusted by someone from outside the group posting here. I am annoyed that many of the threads here degenerate into slanging matches and while I realise Colonial Bird is an American (and therefore not responsible for this particular point) I do somewhat resent the tone of anti-Americanism of some of the threads especially the recent Iraq war one.
There’s at least one friend of mine who’s a regular contributor here who has a brother in Iraq. I bet he feels a lot better knowing you think his brother’s a psychopathic looney–or some other emotive phrase.

5) At no time did I mention the Flypast magazine. I imagine that a number of people here don’t subscribe to it. However, I’d ask again if not being interested in the host publishers magazine really helps the continuation of this site or is really in the spirit of the whole set-up we have provided for us here.

6) I believe even barely ever read rules make the point that this isn’t strictly a chat room, just for the sake of being a chat room.

7) I’m sorry that I’ve upset Steve Young–a person very dedicated to aviation in all of the most positive ways. Steve, I’m leaving this argument here believing that I made my point about the tone of the threads earlier only to be shouted at with a load of irrelevant nonsense.

Hi all
I’ve been reading some of the threads lately around here and in my opinion several people should know better.
This whole set-up is organised and hosted by Key and is intended I presume to have an aviation theme–with the possible exception of this particular forum where I imagine the concept was that it would act as an overflow for other forums for non aviation subject matter.
However, threads here lately seem to have degenerated into Anglo American slanging matches, with more often than not participants who take no active part in in any of the aviation related forums whatsoever.
So people, ask yourselves this, If you have no interest in aviation and you come here first rather than via historic, modern mil or one of the others, why are you here and wouldn’t another ‘chat room’ suit your needs better?
If I had my way you’d be allowed one post here for every ten posted on an aviation forum.

The mushy peas on the fish and chips were tolerable…but I swear I thought it was Guacamole when I first saw it. Remember…they are only peas.

The pub near OW (Richard Shuttleworth’s old haunt) serves a good lasagna, last I tried it…but that was 3 years ago. My friend from the US had a ‘Spotted D1CK’..over here in the US that would be a BAD thing, so I abstained…but she said it was good.

The bacon sandwiches at Legends were good.

We cooked up some Australian steaks (thsi was during the beef scare a few years ago) and they came out alright, I might’ve overdone them a bit…but edible.

The ‘American Steak House’ near Duxford was a lot of fun, but the steaks were a bit thin…but a fun night there with Yanks and Brits anyway.

Cooked Fajitas one night for a party of seven, my host shoved a ‘fajita kit’ into my hands and said ‘There we go..all set’…I informed him ‘No’ and we made a return run to Morrison’s market in Stamford to pick up all the missing bits for Fajitas…it’s a fairly elaborate set up to do, but it was a good night…I realized I’d had a bit too much to drink when I yelled out the back door at a neighbor’s dog “RIGHT! That’s enough out of you!!” in my best British accent…stopped the whole dinner party cold, but got a “Good British Accent!” out of my host…still embarrassed over that one. Loud Americans, right?

Hi Damian
well, Trumpeter have arrived from China and are producing some very nice stuff now after a shaky start.
I really like the stuff they produce–especially their 1/350th scale ships (sadly not relevant here) but the 1/32nd scale Corsair and Wildcat kits are very nice.
The Wildcat as originally released had some fuselage and wing shape problems, so they took it off the market and completely re-vamped the kit.
It’s fine now. They also do a 1/32nd scale F-105, which I’m told is very good.
Parrafin burners don’t do much for me though.
