Best Line…
I suffered about 45 minutes of this garbage last night.
My favourite line was the British pilot (played by a British acting face but I can’t remember his name–he was in ‘Chariots of Fire’ I think) where he says to Affleck.
“Are there anymore people like you back home? ‘Cause if there are America will be one hell of a country to take on in a war”
Can you imagine any Brit you’ve ever met coming out with that sh*t to a foreigner?
I think I’ll try something like it out on Steve Patterson next week.
“Are then anymore drinkers like you at home? ‘Cause if there are we could revitalise the British brewing industry–your round by the way!!”

Bruggen 130.
I took all my pictures of the Vimy replica at Old Warden.
I can’t now remember what year it was or which particular show.
I think I only saw the aircraft once though.
I’ve added three more pictures below.
I include the last one because it did a fly-by with the Bristol Fighter and although the picture isn’t great it’s the only picture I have of the two together.

Car Parking at Old Warden..
No problem parking.
The field is big enough for all and many sit at their cars and eat and watch flying.
The perfect place for a picnic.
The ground slopes down to the barrier so the whole field is like a natural amphitheatre..
Iβm going and Robbo will be about also.
Iβll PM you my mobile number if youβd like to meet up.
Just pray for the weather now.

Hornet Moth.
Personally Iβll be saddened to see the Hornet Moth leave Old Warden.
I know to Joe Public one Moth looks much the same as another but should public ignorance be the guiding policy to what a museum holds?
Iβd like to see a Balliol at Old Warden but Iβm not convinced it would appeal to Mr J Public any more than the Hornet Moth.
Once one gets away from places like this forum Iβm always appalled at the ignorance of the population at large.
Recently when I stood at the fence with some of our other erstwhile forum-ites I heard a father telling his son that he didnβt know what it wasβit was the Sea Hurricane!!
I say keep the Hornet Moth please Shuttleworth collection. Selling the family silver is a one shot deal.
Also wasn’t that aircraft presented to the collection?
Has anyone considered how that might influence future presentations?

Paraffin Burners…
Hi All
As promised, a few more.
These are for those people that enjoy seeing paraffin burned.
All of these with the exception of the Tornado are history now.

Old Warden every time.
Sadly though I’m very biased.
It’s nice to be spoiled for choice though–Don’t you think??
All the best in your descision making process.

Hi Stieglitz
As you like the Gladiator.
Here’s a couple for you.
One taken back in the dark ages when she was painted in RAF colours and one taken a couple of weeks ago at Old warden.

I was definitely photographing the Meteor but my mind was probably wandering onto other things.

Meteor
Here’s one from my dark period.
Taken at Duxford in the early eighties.
Why is this NF.14 painted like this??
I have no idea.
I think the girl’s name is Sharon. I eventually married Vanessa (much later) so we’ll leave it at that.
I’ll try and post some more tomorrow.

Fox Moth..
Hi All
Thanks for the kind words and interest shown.
Here’s another.
The Fox Moth at Old warden.
I think it was destroyed about 1982 so this to use ‘A Time Team’ kind of phrase this gives us the dating evidence we need. Around 1982.
Never Again…
Well I’m 41 years old.
Not a great picture but I doubt I shall see this again.
Sally B in natural metal..
Enough already said about the other’s sad loss.
