That is indeed a generally held view. But there is a significant scientific base for supporting the theory that in tandem with technological developments the earth can sustain much higher population levels. Few of us will ever know.

I expect some government sponsored scientist could work out that the floor space of my(very modest) home could support fourteen people, but that would be neither pleasant or desirable.
The same goes for the planet.
If you got the population back to pre-1914 levels in this country alone, think how much better it would be.
And please don’t bring in the subject of immigration because although it has had an effect, it’s the indigenous population procreating like rabbits which has been the main problem.

This is not about whether the Earth will survive, it will, it is about whether the human race will.
