Actually chaps, ‘apathy’ isn’t a word I’d use to describe my feelings.

Anger–white hot incandescent anger at what they all get away with while moralising about how the rest of us should live is much nearer what I feel.

I really hope people haven’t forgotten the mess Ed Balls helped create though, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to quietly retire before then.

I doubt it, the supreme arrogance of these people, the hefty salary, the ease of fiddling expenses, the free car, second home allowance, and the sheer greed of the modern professional politician would mitigate against that happening.
And before anyone says I’m picking on poor Mr Balls, I’m not, I hate them all with a passion that my limited vocabulary fails to find full expression of.
I wouldn’t p*ss on any of them if they were on fire.
I certainly won’t be wasting my limited resources and time voting at the next general election or any other election.
I no longer support this country or it’s aims, I have to exist here but that isn’t by choice.
Therefore I won’t support their ‘system’ by voting for it.
If everyone did the same, things might change and get done.

I’ve sort of drifted in and out of this thread in a mildly diverting sort of a way.
I’m no huge fan of the EU, I’m not really much of a fan of Governments, the establishment, or authority in general to be honest.
However, you’re allowing this to drift into a left/right argument. Not everyone on the left was ever pro-European. I remember Anthony Wedgwood Benn describing it as a ‘Capitalists Club’ and not very desirable.

Despite the efforts of a number here to persuade me that UKIP and Mr Farage are desirable, I feel I won’t be voting for him (or anyone else) anytime soon. Mr Farage has made a fortune out of milking his position as a MEP, something he makes no secret of. He claims this is because it illustrates how corrupt the EU is. How much better and moral high-ground gaining the stunt might have been therefore if he’d have given the money to a charity–perhaps..?
I remain as ever non-aligned.

I often have to read the cr*p you write, but I read it, absorb it and often consider it. So, although you might not agree with me, my cr*p is as valid as your cr*p.
Countries borrow big bucks in wartime, and that’s OK if they win.
Russia in The Great War borrowed heavily from America.
When it all went **** up, those investors lost.
You could if you were a true cynic (and heaven forbid, I’m not) argue that America joined The Great War to protect their investments in Gt Britain and France, who in 1917, with the Russians gone and the Germans bringing a substantial number of divisions from east To West, the French army in a shambles and even talk of unrest in Britain, were looking like the loosing side.

Again in 1938, Neville Chamberlain repeated that war would be bad for World trade.
That’s why he gave Czechoslovakia away–well one of the reasons anyway.

I agree and we’ve been through worse before.

Let’s face it, World war would be bad for business and with the international gang of bankers, usurers and spivs who are currently in charge in the World, I can’t see any of them wanting to cut their profits right now.
They’ve got it pretty well sown up I reckon.
