Between 1993 and 2003 (when I sold it) I ran an engineering business in London, now I’m running my own business again–albeit on a much smaller scale.

Profligate squandering of fuel these days is nothing to be particularly proud of when you can get seriously high performance motoring without underdeveloped large-capacity engines.

Moggy, I agree with that and it’s also damned expensive to burn it in large amounts.
I have a Honda VF1100 that I’m rebuilding from the pre-fuel injection days. It’s large advertised performance is partly derived by it having four carbs the size of pint beer glasses.
Looking at them and the fuel pump (needed to keep them supplied) I reckon it’ll cost twenty quid to start the engine and run it on choke until warmed up at today’s prices.
I won’t be going long distances on it..!

All the debating in the World will be a moot point unless the weather gets better.
On Friday I have a party coming in from another aviation association (from the country next door) and the plan is that they go to Legends on Saturday and OW on Sunday.
As it stands I think I’ll just organise a party somewhere so we can get drunk and watch the rain.

We could all do with a dry weekend or two.

I can’t see police bureaucrats getting any sympathy from the public. I don’t have any real issue with cutting the police bureaucrats either, I’d happily cut the number in half, especially if it is well directed. The problem I see is that those people who should be cut often seem not to. Very senior police officers should have massive salary cut. We could also cut those people involved with speed cameras.

Sadly what happened went far beyond that.
G4S now pretty much do everything in Lincolnshire.
If you get arrested in Lincs today, the only person who will deal with you who actually is a member of the Police is the arresting officer. Everyone else works for G4S. That includes, the driver who takes you in, the custody staff at the station, the crime photographers and ID people, everyone.
Of course, far be it from me to be a cynic but with a private (for profit) company running things, the system could never be open to abuse–could it?

Now, I’m no great fan of ‘The Filf’ myself, but I’m even less of a fan of companies like G4S.
You’ve only got to look at the individuals concerned and how they ‘won’ the contract to see that. Someone in ‘Dodgy Dave’s’ hierarchy has already done very nicely for himself out of it–questions in Parliament etc, but as they don’t give a f**k about what the Proles think, they act as if they’re above the law.

As to the people on the receiving end, many of them are ex-forces people who find a job in the Police support roles after they leave the military. Just the sort of people many on this forum would describe as ‘model citizens’. Law abiding, tax payers who help to keep law and order. Of course they count for nothing.

And on another subject…

Also, ear protection highly recommended for motorcyclists, the wind noise does an incredible amount of damage.

Police forces who suddenly privatise all their support services without any consultation with the staff involved–many of whom have many years of loyal service. Then to stand by while the company who won the contract start to get rid of those staff and employ replacements at a rate just above the legal minimum wage.
This is the Police force you desrve in 2012 my children–well at least according to ‘Dodgy Dave’ and his minions.

Coming to a constabulary near you soon.
