Even if the same group of people had announced they were planning to build an airworthy Mosquito, but hadn’t said that they were looking for funding etc, the majority of the arguments & mickey taking etc that has gone on, on this forum, would still have happened. If the group have been keeping an eye on this thread, then it wouldn’t supprise me if they have given up on the project, due to the negativity of most of the comments.

Of course, it’s a free country and people can give their money away to who they like.

If the ‘People’s Mosquito’ people are put off as easily as contracting a bit of on-line negativity, then it doesn’t bode well for them when the going gets really tough.
I’d say when the thing is about 66% complete, ’cause that’s when projects usually start to get tedious.

Well unfortunately for any of the contributors here, none of us own a Comet–replica or otherwise, so it isn’t up to us to decide.
In the case of The Collection machine, if the trustee’s decide that it is to be flown, backed up by the engineering team, it will be prepared for flight.
Personally, I think it should. There is of course some risk attached, but it was always thus when operating old machines.
If you start saying the Comet is too valuable to fly, you might eventually say the same for the Tutor, Tomtit, DH51, DH53, Elf, and others.

If the collection want to fly, drive or ride any of their collection then they indeed should be doing exactly that. That is what the collection is all about after all isnt it.
Why the hell would we need a replica when we have the real deal right here in this country and pilots with the skills to fly them.
They belong in the air and thats where they should be until they no longer work or can no longer be repaired to fly.

I don’t think many at OW have a problem with that point of view.
As you say, the ethos is to see it fly, drive or otherwise perform in something approaching the manner intended, and a tremendous amount of work goes into making that happen with everything The Collection owns.

I was wondering if I could make it from there to Lancaster Lancashire in a daybrake after a 4-5 hours in S-Collection during the same day by rented automobile..waking up in London the very same day ( morning ) ? Doable or better to overnite in Bedford ?

I think what you mean is could you go from London to The Shuttleworth Collection and then to Lancaster in a day?
Yes, if you get an early start.
The Collection opens at 10.00am and closes at 16.00hrs in Winter.
It will take you about 4 hours to get to Lancaster from Old Warden.

I managed to convince her that Uhu Glue was made originally from boiled down owls, but due to the shortage of owls and their protected status it was at that time being made from pigeons.
