The whole RER in Paris should consist of those double deck things, some RER trains are really dirty, horrid, cramped things. I’ve always caught them at Gare du Nord but I’ve never been able to go further than one stop before they go out of service, even on longer lines.
I’ve also seen double deck things at Berchem near Antwerp, but not often.

    London is best

I’ve been on the London Underground and the Paris Metro, I prefer the London Underground. The only good thing about the Paris Metro is the double decker trains which you occasionally get. The Docklands Light Railway in London is another favourite of mine, especially as it goes near London City airport. The Gent trams in Belgium are fun, but they are not undergrounds, obviously. The Sydney monorail and the Helsinki trams can also be reccommended.

I’d rather do without than use a budget airline

I think that Ryanair’s decision to fly to Oostende (the correct name for “Ostend”) stinks. So many people have lost their jobs in the Belgian aviation industry because of the loss of Sabena and then Delsey/VG, bloody Ryanair taking passengers from proper airlines because folk seem to think that cheap/crap/no service is for some reason better than dearer/reliable/good service really annoys me. I would rather not fly to Belgium at all than lower myself to fly in on cheap crap like Ryanair. I for one will always be loyal to proper Belgian carriers like SN Brussels and VLM than defect and give my valuable custom to those who do not deserve it. What about the dire treatment handed out by Ryanair to those people who had bookings on buzz from Bournemouth, only to find that their flights will no longer be operating? Or those who through no fault of their own will lose their jobs? Too many jobs have gone from the aviaiton industry since September 11th.

Who led the army which defeated Napoleon at Waterloo in Belgium?? Yes – it was the Duke of Wellington, listed at number 15 in the 100 Great Britons Poll. Who destroyed a combination of the French and Spanish navy in 1805? Oh yes, it was the British again led by Admiral Nelson, in the top 10 of Great Britons. Who made up the majority of the fighting force which defeated the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain in 1940? I do believe it was the British. Who it is that no one ever gives credit to the British for what they have achieved during times of conflict?

There were some touching scenes in Titanic – such as the bit Phamtom II mentioned with the old couple, and then the Irish woman putting her children to bed and telling them the story knowing they were all going to die – but I never cried at any of it.
