here you’ll find very good info, i hope it helps.
about radiation, you must see your air foce’s procedures for testing those, normally radars are not supposed to be irradiating on the ground, some you can test without, some you cant, qualified avionic techs know about the risks and safety procedures for ground testing of radars.
i wish you well and i hope you’ll find the answers you’re looking for. 🙂

nice pics of the thunderbirds, 😎
i saw them long time ago and they were spectacular, i did love the show.
does anybody knows where to download any of their videos? if any?
thanks for sharing, asia man.

are the rusians applying ceramics to their diafragms and turbine blades?
Hmmm, interesting, there are kevlar aplications in turbine fans???404???, no matter if the engine is russian or western..
the kevlar lining is used to prevent the fan blades to exit the area (in the event of a catastrophic separation) and hit someone.
you cant use it on the turbine area because of the intense heat.
the application of ceramics is intended for diafragm and hp turbines, i just dont remember if the vanes are metal-ceramic coated or solid ceramics, but it was in this particular hot area whare our russian friends were one step behind.
ceramics techno exists for 20 years now, so it wouldnt surprise me that the ruskiye druks may have a grip on it now. 😉
now, do you wanna see a real life “catastrophic failure”?
watch this, a clear case, no explanation required. 😮
its a B-747 engine 2, but look on the last pic, what happened to engine 1 (they look like pratt’s to me)

all latin america needs is (from mexico to the south pole) a military force about the same size of the canadian, for peacekeeping operations (UN) and that’s it.
it may take a while but it will also come, (i hope 🙂 ) for latin america to “mature” a bit and actually do-it.
hey condor,
it seems to me that the whole move of the F-16 FACH will provide them with an awesome weapon flown with very high skill
nice moves 😉

thanks for the info bro. 😎
it seems that their precission milling got a bit better , ’cause they claim now to have achieved higher combustion temperatures and they are also very intimately together with new materials, and by achieving this, the new RD33K for example is “smokless”.
are the rusians applying ceramics to their diafragms and turbine blades?
las i knew (a looong ago) …nop (about the 80’s)
also, about the main oil seals on the R29B (55BC) can you find if they are carbon seals? or labyrinth? my memory about is very old hard to remember.
thanks
a couple of techies i new, told me that units such as FCU or similar had the adjustment points blocked-off, very “nobody knows why” and the rusian reps wont answer, so after a while when FAP techies got to know the machine,
-removed the blanking plates (like on the old rochester carburators, where you had to remove off the blanking plates to tune up your idle mixture 🙂 ),
-did the “tune ups” on their own and …
-did show some finger, for, the feeling was that they (the reps) wanted to stay longer by not teaching enough, kinda unpleasant situation, but there’s also some other records about the russians “teaching the wrong way”?
basically, the guys were cool but you had to find out about your machine, on your own (but only the deepest secrets, nothing more 😀 )

tri-axial?
Samara Nk-321 tri-axial turbo fan?
the last i knew only RR had produced that kinda’ engine with the RB-211 and Trents
nice to learn that the russians also have it 🙂
BTW the Lotarev D18T also looks tri-axial to me, really RB-211 looking 😉

what i’ve heard for example about the R-29B (55BC)…
its a good engine performancewise, it will give you the thrust you need when needed, but a few minor annoyances were the oil seals (prompt to leak or too often) and the short TBO was due to materials they still had to invent, therefore lower combustion temperatures had to be applied with the resultant smoke trail so known to everybody, but easy to work with, very simple and cheap to buy, so it actually never did matter. 😉

hello condor.
if i remember correctly, while reading at the eduardo ahumada site (fach) came across a chilean air force general (patricio rios?) saying “if it doesnt come with amraam we dont want it” and some more, in fact that talking went for a good while.
also the controversy about the u/s denying it to chile but kindly offering to brasil  with forced fach to decide for derby all over.
then again it might have been just loud rumours.
BTW…nice pic of the “fat lady” 😀

no way jose…
latinas are the hottest 😎 😉 😀

belles pics che cazador 🙂 , makes me wish i was there taking them.
tell me, is the super etendard doing a touch and go?
looks that the hook is not deployed, that’s why i ask, 13 looks very nice on the deck.
tell me please, is that pic from the last exercise with “ronnie”?
i got one from unitas 2004 kinda’cool too, i hope you guys like it 😉
if i do recall, Super Etendard 02 (from the pics above) is the one that fired the Exocet missile that sunk the HMS Sheffield.

the good news for the Peruvian forces is that finally a $1066 millions U/S budget has been aproved for 2005, from which about 250 millions are for the air force’s long overdue maintenance (transport and fighter fleet)
so we expect to see more aircraft coming back to life very soon 😎
sure it isnt the best budget yet but it helps a lot 🙂
sorry, we are poor 😀

ok AN225hvy
actually to be flight engineer on those (C5/AnXXX) you have to be a qualified technician before you get the F/E training, but it depends on the carrier itself, in some comertial cases, for example air Canada, used to hire pilots to do F/E job (second officer), but when the aircraft breaks down, all they can do is cry for help, while with a techie F/E he fixes it and brings it back home (i used to do that on the mighty L-1011)
my dear flogger
as per compexity, it is not, normal gyro computers from the eigthies, pretty clear istruments on all stations, you cant read russian but you can clearly see what does what (systems wise)
2 pilots, 2 flight engineers, navigator and radio operator in the cockpit.
its a machine to be flown by MEN and no by computers.
like a beautiful woman asking you…
why dont you touch me, touch me, touch me now!!! 😀
i’m in love 😎
Camaro.
today i was lucky and got to visit the cockpit, the Ruslan (volga dnieper) was loading here at CYMX (Mirabel intl) 😎
man! what a hot babe she is, i just fall in love, 😀 , it made wish i was either the capt. or either flight engineer,
for a nuts like me 😉 (people who love to press buttons and move switches and far better…in the air 🙂 ) it is “the woman of your dreams machine”
i had a ball!
Spasiba to those guys 🙂
