i believe that, what the diagram means is…
the Sukhoi because of its thrust to weight ratio will outclimb the enemy to escape (even western pilots with that kind’a power do so) and when the enemy abandons the vertical pursuit…BANG an R-73 is right behind ready to blow.
the problem for the enemy would have been trying to engage the Sukhoi at that speed and altitude to begin with.
like going to fight at the enemy’s own arena (not a clever idea 🙂 )

Shalom erez 🙂
i’ll be honoured to be a citizen of this perfectland, where everybody will live in peace, harmony and lots of flying… 😎

what sucks is that “the value of the man” means nothing to either system
on the comunist side is only the party what matters and on the other side…
is only “the capital” (=money) what matters.
and we, human beings are just in the middle, sure i’d ratter live where i live now, i’m happy, but the rest of the world doesnt make very nice news lately.
adding to this the fanatism (whichever form it takes) its a bad combo.
i was told in my youth that the political system or religion that can please absolutely everybody in the world doesnt exist…to date it seems right, but if we trully apply justice i think it could help A LOT.
i just hope we will learn to live together 😀

the guys from skunk works, wanted to fuel the sr-71 with hydrogen but the requirements were preposterous, they said something like “having the L-1011 fuselage with the F-104 wings” it was an impossible task for the time, and because of the storing and distribution is still if not impossible…a long way to go, for cars is one thing, for airplanes is something else 😮

seems to me that the ultralight boys were in the wrong place at the wrong time, i dont suppose that they are required to check for notams or something to prevent them from going into “restricted airspace”
my condolences to their familys

look at the shadow, it appears that is noon (12:00hrs) the sun right above, we can see the shadow of the An-26 but no shadow of the dish… 😮
unless its a new kinda’ stealth (impervious to sunshine 😀 )…its a fake to me (IMHO)
Camaro
ok lets see… 😉
first joyride at 10 years old on a C-47 Fuerza aerea del Peru, back in 1972 on an airborne training mission (my old man was the jump master, he just passed away a month ago 🙁 RIP.) it was then that i’ve got the bug 😎
years latter on a DHC-5 Buffalo, same thing, after that on a Mi-8, Mi-6 and after on An-26, all FAP, all airborne fun 😎 (just joyriding)
after that as mechanic on DC-8 cargo, (a few times) after that as mechanic on B-727 (many more times).
after that moved to Canada and in 1997 i’ve got my pilot’s lisense C-150, then my F/E lisense L-1011, (da bes time ever 😀 ).
and as passenger C-123, C-130, Cessna 206, 207, 402, A-310, 320, 321, 330, Embraer-145, B-727, 737, 757, 767 and ATR-42
nothing out of the ordinary but lots of fun. 😀

did ever an F-16 got killed in air combat? that i’d like to know,
cause some people tend to think its better compared to the Mig-29 based on mig’s losses during the gulf war and yugoslavia and so many others where a few Migs had to come up against the might of the combined us/nato air arms ( and those guys claim to know a lot about aviation  )
does somebody have any historical about?
dont get me wrong, i think the F-16 properly used is an awesome weapon, no doubt in my mind 😉
thanks to all.
Sorry Camaro and Flex but I strongly disagree with you . Christianism does not says ” lets get all the goods from all of thoses people redistributed it ” no matter if you worked hard to get it .
my dear brother, that’s why the word used was…”the closest thing” and not “the exact thing” there are some BS with comunism with which i’d never agree, but the basics and mentioned before …i do (health and education)
another point i did love was for example, the aviation, some people without knowledge said “their aircraft are so primitive that they require 5 crews to operate”
the case being, because of the comunist philosophy, their mission was “to create jobs” not so save the company few thousend dollars a year by replacing a HUMAN BEING with a damned computer. 😡
personally…i love to fly i dont care how, as pilot or flight engineer (got both)or navigator or radio operator, the air is where i belong and so did all those guys who got screwed by the philosophy of, “to hell with the man, put a computer and save”
Camaro.
i’ve read in the mid eighty’s that the russians have tried hydrogen, they did a mod on a Tu-154, to fuel #3 engine with it, but inside the cabin there was a huge reservoir and it did require a massive heat exchanger to keep hydrogen in a liquid state to be fed to the engine, basically, is the “storage and distribution” of the hydrogen that makes it imposible to apply to jets in today’s technology, the burning of it is quite easy, just a few minor mods on the jet engine.
this was on AW&ST with pics etc. back then.

I don’t try to tell that I like them, but how can you hate someone you have never met before?
gentlemen…
flex has a good point. 🙂
i’m not a commie either, but i know some of their ideas and i agree with a few of those (health and education)
and we know the way “propaganda” is used everywhere.
Camaro.
I agree with you arthur.
that incident was wildly used to portray a picture of “comunists cuban assasins” while its known to everybody that violations of airspace can and do have severe consecuences, wherever you are in the world.
about Cuban Migs, i knew they are Fulcrum-A’s and because of the economy (or the blockade? 😡 ) it seems that money for maintenance is badly needed.
Camaro.
here goes a skerry one 😮
so please dont stand on the “receiving end” 😀
Camaro.
😡
c’mon A-29 go kick those menopausic politicians butts,
we all know the Sukhoi was the better machine and the Brazilian air force seems to agree 😎
yes politicians are just dirty SOB’s no matter where you go
i believe its the third time it happens? FAB choosing Sukhoi and the government playing foul?
well there’s still hope. 😉
Camaro.
I don’t know what happened to the prototype.
the prototype is displayed at “le bourget” musee nationale d’aviation, i have seen it, very nice. 😉
