This section gives an insight to the engineers. Some are now full time reservists who stay with flight and pass on their expertise. http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/thecrews/bbmfengineers.cfm

My OP comments only apply to Hendon. I have not been to Cosford for 12 years.
I think that Hendon could look a lot better by just tidying up and proper lighting.
Also clear up to date information boards, if they want to know how it should be done
look at Newark Air Museum!

Re the Vimy, I must have been mistaken then. Above my head I saw a large wingspan aircraft with two pairs of wheels like the Vimy. I didn’t see any information boards on what was up there.
On the disability access, there are lifts in the B.o.B hall and the G W but they need to be operated by the staff. Otherwise the floors are fairly flat.

I went there on Monday and I concur with Tin Triangle’s views. The detailed display ‘cards’ in particular.
Restoring 3 Mosquitos at the same time would tax even the large museums.
Having driven there from Hendon the difference could not be more marked. But I will leave my comments on that to a separate thread!

The royal helicopter flight callsign was ‘rainbow 1romeo’. I understand this is used for Prince Phillip? When it departed I am fairly sure the commentator remarked it was him.
There was a large display board by the Ba146 telling of 32 squadron’s role then and now.

I have asked before but is the Lanc going to Duxford for a major service at the end of the 2016 display season? I visited Duxford on Sunday and saw no sign of a hangar wide enough on ARCOs site. Would using one of the IWM hangars be allowed?

Spare parts? Engines? None left, no chance.

Thanks. Don’t know what happened there?

In the good old days of the Biggin Air Fair, there were no speakers at the far (VOR) end of the crowd line. Simple.
I read that the Canadians noted last year how the Brits like to stand in silence as the two Lancasters passed.
This certainly happened at Duxford last September.

May I assume the Charity Commissioners are being made aware of these ‘problems’?

My late parents married on the 3rd September 1932…..
I remembered both today as I put flowers on the family graves.

I’m wondering who will be the first Politician to jump on the ‘ban them’ bandwagon……

Thanks for the links. It looks like ‘the few’ applies to the airfields this time. Two of the real few are buried in Gravesend. I expect there are some at Manston as well considering what happened there.

Has anyone seen a plan of the approximate routes? I have read that they will not be flying over Manston or Gravesend.
