Never mind what the public think. What would happen if somebody tripped and fell and blamed the dark? The insurers could use that as an excuse to pass the blame back to the museum. Then they (and us) will see the light. 😎

There is a flying one in New Zealand. 😎

Excellent videos Steve.
20 years ago I was in hospital for an eye operation. I had just had the pre med when an elderly chap in the next bed was being cheeky to a nurse who was Dutch. “I dropped food to your people.” Another chap piped up “So did I” It turned out they were in the same 626 Lancaster crew and had not seen each other for nearly 50 years! One of them went home that day and if nothing had been said they would have not met up again…

Absolutely brilliant post. ‘A warning from history’ in more ways than one.

The RAF regiment Queen’s colour squadron are mounting the guard at Buckingham palace this weekend I believe.
On Friday the Queen will be present and the BBMF fighters are due to flypast. The 10th July is considered the start
of the battle. There are flypasts over former airfields planned for August and September.

What a building that must be. ‘There will be room for a 747 as well!’
mmitch,
Another update on their Facebook page shows the first parts arriving. The rebuild is due to start on Monday but the engine bearer and fire wall are still to arrive. https://www.facebook.com/BBMF.Official

Did I read in the last year that one or more hangars were unsafe? True or not it is a good excuse to keep the public out.
I went to a flyin there some years ago and as the OP says there were some gems there.

If you look on Youtube there is also a short video on how it was done.

The effort the USA puts in to recover their dead puts our MOD to shame. I note that this recovery and several others recently were started by enthusiasts excavating crash sites. Seldom be allowed here.

Lovely to see it back in the air.
Little query – Why is the tail leg retraction not working? Bruce
Looks like it might be attached to a fork lift. To keep the tail down? 🙂

You don’t see much ‘hi viz’ amongst the pit crews in F1. Some even wear black…..
