There are other MR Shackletons preserved of coarse, including (before twin otter gets in!) the one at Newark. 🙂

Anyway it looks good. Nice air to air in the ‘Mail’ today escorting the Hurricane.
Those computers are working hard to keep up with the Hurri! 😉

I can just imagine what disappointment would have swept the country if this had happened last year!
The CWPH planning their visit and then not knowing if our Lanc would be airworthy.
We were very lucky. 🙂

With the speculation elsewhere about the BBMF Lancs repairs, has work started yet on the hangar at Duxford for its major overhaul? I believe it was planned to start at the end of the 2016 season so the build should at least be starting this Summer?

Very nice Duxman. Just wish the Beaufighter was flying with it….

Excellent museum. I saw and followed the signs while just passing by.
All those model Lancasters hanging from the ceiling, one for each loss…..

There is a link on the SPT Shackleton thread but it’s a good idea to give it a clear mention.
Please have a look and donate for the first step to get her up where she belongs! 🙂

Some time ago I’m sure I read that there was a restoration ‘project’ for a two seat Hurricane.
I think Hawker Restorations had it on the shelf as a future job?
Perhaps now there is now flying training on Spitfires, a two seat Hurri is the next step!

If you don’t get any luck here try on Pprune Military forum. There is a thread there where the current ‘star poster’ Danny flew Vengeances in India and may have some memories to help.

Is the ‘Falling man’ memorial still there? I saw it many years ago. I seem to remember it was made from the ‘scrap metal’ of crashed aircraft….

Interesting website. thanks.

If a volunteer is around, you can sit in the front of the 2 seat Harrier at Brooklands.
But that may stop when the hangar work starts. I have also been lucky enough to sit
in the Concorde cockpit. About the same amount of room!

Was there a separate tank (in the fuselage?) for the refuelling trial?
When I saw that short nose I wondered if it was designed to have a refuelling probe fitted, may be at a later date?

Is the glass front coming out again? Those doors at the front will slow even the small aircraft removal. Is there a detailed plan available of what changes are to be made?

I know this is opening a ‘can of worms’ but I do fear MOD bean counters thinking ‘Well we got rid of that liability now what else?’ Perhaps casting their thoughts towards the BBMF?
