Concorde BBDG is awaiting reassembly at Brooklands. When ASI have finished BOAA at East Fortune they will be down to erect the big bits. A regular team of volunteers has been there at weekends cleaning all the preservative and dirt off the skin and sorting out boxes of parts from Filton and Heathrow. They recently unpacked a replacement undercarriage set, (DG sat on a jury rig U/C set at Filton) The Concorde SST website gives the best info on all the Concordes. http://www.concordesst.com/
These photos were taken in July just after she had travelled down from Filton.
ANN reports that it was carrying a cargo of tractors and had stopped to pick up 50 tonnes more cargo and refuel.

If one of those tractors had come loose in the back half, the pilot would have had little chance of recovery. Lets wait and see what the inquiry finds out.

Reminds me of the time when Tom Wheatcroft was trying to reopen Donnington Park race circuit.
The principal objector turned out to be the same one who had lead the campaign against Thruxton! They are about 200 miles apart.
Unfortunately for him (but not for Donnington) the same barrister represented both circuits. The objection was thrown out.
I will say (as happened in Donningtons case) A letter writing campaign by pilots who have used the airfield pointing out the money that it generates in the local area can and will sway councils. Nothing sways opinions like money. 🙂
I believe someone flew the English Channel inverted in a Tiger Moth some years ago? That is at least 22 miles.
