Remember the year it came to Farnborough? When they went to move it from static display so the airshow could start they used a BA tug. It was powerful enough but the reinforced tow bar wasn’t so they had to start up its engines and taxi it to the far side. There was that classic press photo of it coming to land over the ‘Swan’ pub with the patrons watching, pint in hand!

London TV News at 18.30 showed the A40 and North Circular roads blocked by flooding around Acton and White City (West London) Mostly underpasses and the Underground. Perhaps LHRs tunnel too?

You can park in the long lay-by opposite the Flight Tavern, then walk up to the fencing by the 08 threshold. If the a/c are landing this end you can see them coming for several miles. You cannot park your car on the verges since 9/11. The police will come and move you on. Nowhere useful at the other end.
I have been through many domestic airports in the UK both before and after 9/11. I always remove the aerial and usually the batteries. I tell the security that its just a receiver and that its disconnected. They have always waved it through. No idea about airports abroad.
