I see in the Farnborough line there is no mention of Eurofighter. There are two at RIAT. Two were flown out to Malaysia but they can’t make Farnborough? 🙁

Your posts will be missed. They usually are moderation in themselves. 🙂

At large motorsport events the photographers have to sign on like any official does. They are then given a viz waistcoat usually with an identity number on the back. This started because some insisted on standing in front of the paying public causing complaints. Needless to say the regular photographers didn’t.

I can remember the days of F1 at Brands Hatch. They used one 150′ high so they could follow the cars both sides of the woods. It came down very fast one day when they got a thunderstorm warning!

I went there on a Sunday in May as I was passing. The museum was quiet but you could have a look inside the Vulcan. You cannot see much from the museum but if you drive out the exit turning left, there are places on the verge opposite the Air Atlantic hangers and ramp. Also you are near the runway threshold. Mostly trainers in the circuit but did see one or two airliners.

Gatwick is a lot nearer by road distance but this relies on the M23/25 being ‘clear’. I have taken 2 hours to get from North Kent to Gatwick in a rush hour. 🙁

Sometimes (certainly in the past) A cruise ship charter flight has landed there and the passengers bussed to Dover. Although Manston in some distance from London, it is now connected to a dual carriageway which runs all the way from Blackheath in East London to Manston. I live 50 miles from Manston on this road and it takes less than an hour. The Medway towns, Canterbury and the Kent coastal towns are all less than an hours drive from Manston.

Judging by the weather in this and the previous programme I think it was filmed last Summer. Even though the ‘boat was protected against corrosion it was amazing how much survived. Yet some large parts of the engine had gone. See the programme website at:- http://www.channel4.com/science/microsites/W/wreck_detectives/prog_sunderland.html

Is it feasible (legal even) to do a night run? Even in evening half light those reheated Avons would be spectacular.

She is in excellent condition. Almost a shame to have to dismantle her to get to MAN. Good luck with the move.
