Bearing in mind that if you throw enough money at a problem, there is nothing you cannot solve (in the context of Warbirds). What do you think would make it un-viable?

I think the B17 does serve a valuable purpose here as a memorial to the 8th.

I am 100% in agreement with you there, its a shame that the owner doesnt feel that way.

However how can something that isnt British fit in with Criteria 1? As I see it the Criteria are meant to help preserve essential parts of British history, the B-17 is an essential part of the History of the Word IMHO.

As a memorial however, it is very important.

I understand that the aircraft below will shortly be leaving these shores.
The owner has decided to persue another project, one that involves skill with woodworking and a twin rating. (and no I dont mean something perverted with amputee sisters!)

A very sad loss 🙁

1. Is it so closely connected with our history and national life that its
departure would be a misfortune?
2. Is it of outstanding aesthetic importance?
3. Is it of outstanding significance for the study of some particular
branch of art, learning or history?

Which of the above could possibly be used for SallyB or any Warbird for that fact. The only way I can think is if it was referring to the last Spitfire (or Hurricane etc) in existance anywhere.

Numbers 2 and 3 clearly dont apply Number one is laungable to apply to any Aircraft with the possible exception of Concorde.
