Maybe they could, it depends what the French were intending to do. Syria might not be willing to commit it’s most valuable assets to attempt to stop quite minor action.

maybe, but quite minor action would not be an option We saw how long it took in Libya to get Gaddafi down. If they attacked, it would have to go all the way in my opinion. also, I’m pretty sure Al-Assad had closely watched developments in Libya, and imagined that easily same could soon carry over in his country. I’m sure he has plans how to survive and fight through NATO attack better thank Gaddafi did.

In any case, I think we all agree that state of their air defenses is much better, than Lybia’s was, and that, for example, France could not repeat what they did there, and go in to Syria to start things on their own for few days.

Also, I find it strange how Iran was left without so much of what Syria managed to get out of Russia.

Unless someone manages to dig out an ETAF Su-25TK by the end of this year or reveals secretly supplied F-16s in IRIAF service:D

I found three military airfields on google earth. Sattelite pics taken in 2009.

    This is Sunchon airfield.
Here are two mig 29s parked, seemingly in operational condition standing by.

Also bunch of what to me looks like broken down out of commission Mig-15 (maybe 17s), Su-25s and Mig-29s.

Would Russia ever offer S-400 system to Serbia s a joint Air defences coaporation. This would be seriously pissing off west, and causing threats to Serbia from EU that if they accept, they are never becoming EU member.

I know its silly in a way, but the more i think, the more i see Russians doing it just to cause major commotion with EU and US. They could offer a very good package to Serbia which would include small modernized airforce for very little money such as 20 Yak-130s, or 14 Mig-35s and support, as well as signing major export import long term deals. All that to have S400 systems installed on Serbian territory.

any thoughts, or am i just way off in a fantasy scenario?

Also, would it make huge difference if instead of S-400 joint defence system they offered a sale of S-300 to replace Old serbian PVO mssiles.

    cheers

    Yeh RIGHT !

I was surprised it took so long to realize ALBANIA IS a NATO member! It has the oldest air frames, and least experienced pilots.

sadly, CROATIA is also a NATO member with arguably second worst airforce.

You can put these two as winners of the worse airforces as they are smallest and oldest as far as equipment goes.

I believe both were suddenly “let in” to NATO team on a same glorious day.

    politics..whatever.

Verbatim, the Su-35 is being purchased in such numbers because of financial situation and production capability. No offense but your plan is completely unrealistic, and would see the RuAF reduced to 200 tactical aircraft while waiting for mythical numbers of PAK-FAs and DAs.

If the Su-34 is a relic, then frankly so is the Su-35.

Great MiG-31 photo. According to news, BM modernization plan includes more than 60 airframes so far.

it is a great photo! Is there a link to high resolution of it?

    thanks

what did Serbia have? None of those.

Well, you said Serbia have none but I thought Russia is Serbia’s oldest friend and ally which always provide help. And by the way, which part of Yugoslavia
    are you from?

    Serbia!

And you thought very wrong. And that just proves you have no idea about Serbian fight with NATO in 1999.

let me paint you a very short picture:

All North Korean jets were brand new generation Migs that fought well against US more advanced but less maneuverable intruders. And they had hundreds of them. They also had full cross border support from China and Russia. Their air deference were also brand new Russian missiles of the time.

Serbia had 14 barely working Mig-29s that were old and broken before they even got hit by US newest weapons. They did go up to fight regardless of no chance of survival. No support from any country. On the contrary, hundreds of best planes in the world from 13 countries of NATO were flying in to bomb freely from all directions.

the two wars are not compareable.

“some day North Korean people will wake up and laugh at tears they shed (out of fear, and to make sure to cry convincingly enough) for their late leader. I wish them fast recovery. “

thank you. Lots of good read.

Do you suppose their Mig-17s, Su-7s and Mig-19s are still in service?

Do you suppose their ground attack IL-28 aircraft would have any role in a war with South?

any mor erecent info on air fleet upgrades of Mig-29s or anymore potent SAM systems.

    thanks again!

    The most similar looking angle.

i like this a lot. Thanks. I showed it at work, and many got into comparison discussion. (of coarse, most didn’t know what they are talking about, still….)
