I believe those are Kh-38 Kilter anti-radar missiles.

can anyone confirm thiese missiles on above 3 pics? I see r-77, kh-31, and another kh-? i guess..
One more here looks identical (same photo shoot) to the ones above. I see better now that it isnt r-33/37. Its labeled kh-58 underwing of mig-31 though?

also, any other different mig-31 under wing weapons pics would be appreciated.

    thanks

There will be no WW3 , cold war 2 or cuban crysis …

    WW3 no, hopefully never..
Cold war 2, you gotta be blind not to see one going ON for some years already. Its just less noticeable in todays world where too much other things are “breaking news” every day. I call it “quiet” cold war, because its over shadowed by “breaking news” about war on terror, and Britney Spears. Global politics are still #1 priority to US, as much as Russia and Asian region.
Thats’ s a discussion for different thread maybe.

PS: Why do people here use “Moving F22s to a Region” like some sort of buggey monster threat.. To nations that are not Afraid of USA now.. (those with ICBMs) F22 is not a policy changing threat… to those Nations without ICBMs… a battlegroup with FA18s on board is as scary as F22… probably more.

Why? Every time F-117 was deployed anywhere meant US was 100% ready to bomb something in that region. That’s a fact. I’m not saying Superhornet would be any less of a threat technically. Point is if US decides seriously to have air control over region, and have the whole world know it, it will be F-22s deployment. Its just a simple message they would use for the world to know how serious are about the region (any region)

Also, it isn’t a complete coincidence that Poland decided to sign missiles shield deal with USA TODAY. Russia is under a lot of pressure and US just keeps being very forward and “loud” with their threats. With US troops on the ground, its enough that Russia continues to fly around Georgia for something to go stupid wrong. Any Russian weak move now would now be interpreted as fear from US presence and fear of US military.

hope I’m wrong, and it will be all calm in two weeks like you say

Its getting seriously complicated day by day. Bush shouldn’t have rushed with US troops. Now you have this: One side needs to give in, or we might face US vs. Russia direct (hopefully non nuclear) engagement.

Now that US troops are on the Ground, Russia is either going to submit and not do whatever it wants as far as military objectives in their own back yard. That, by the way, would be very obvious, and embarrassing submission by Russian military to the US influence in the eyes of the world.

On the other hand, if they continue as they are now, we might see US deployment of F-22s to the region, and that will be a direct threat to RUAF which will not be left unanswered.

If F-22s get deployed to the region, we will face a whole new level of crises. As bad as Cuban missile crises were.

    just my thoughts tonight..
    we’ll see soon.

It will fly very soon. As a matter of fact, it is most likely just about ready to fly NOW. ( although not complete to fully perform or fight)

There is absolutely NO reason (quite on contrary) for Russia to stall this project these days. Think about it. It has ALL the financial backing at this point it needs!

Also, i think that comparing the speed of Flanker series evolving, and now Su-35 so slowly entering service to this project is wrong, and has nothing to do with PAK-FA’s design and it’s first flight.

I am talking about first few models, and not full production here – of course.

At this point to Russia it is just important to release this new fighter as complete as possible to stand the much ahead F-22s fame and might, and even have reasonable edge (at least commercially)! It is crucial to be as serious and unique a competitor as Su-30/35 are to latest F-15s and Super hornets – without any doubts.

It seems that configuration is the most accepted as the most accurate configuration you can see in this page of ARMTASS the same configurationhttp://www.arms-tass.su/?page=article&aid=53982&cid=24

    – This internal bay looks too good to be true, although then … why not !! But carrying so much (and in-line) dictates much larger aircraft than F-22 imo.
    – Wing area looks good too and I love that engines are separated as opposed to F-22 and Mig-1.44 designs.
    – Engine exhaust makes no sense for a stealth attempt, but it might be on the drawing like this for now for the 3D trust vectoring designation purpose.
    – Front end fuselage looks awesome. A true stealth design version of the flanker family.

    best regards

it looks like 80’s ATF design speculation.

I don’t want to state much as I’m not much on topp of these things anymore, but those 3 images look like Russians testing YF-22/F22 design. They do this with every US radical design and try to gather info or ideas. Who wouldn’t ..

, but this design looks soo fricked GOOD !! Too good to be true though:p
I hope thats the one !

The loudest thing EVER to me were Mig-23s with full afterburner on take off 30m over my head.
-one after another (about 6 of them) in Romania in early nineties.

    TheOklahomakid:
That is an interesting find. I havent measured them yet but I asume they are all mockups (mig-29, 21, and the small mig-31 looking one north of target).

There are similar interesting finds (no aircraft) in post#396 by George nkl!!

I measured now most of them and they all seem to be right in size, except I can’t figure out that small one. I agree because of short wings it resembles Yak-141 but its still only about 40ft (12m)

Does anyone have any facts on these “targets” and airplanes???

I might be mistacken, but those 4 don’t look like Mig-23s. More like Su-17s

I cant help noticing that B1B, Tu-160, and Tu-22M appear almost the same length. Are these drawings up to scale?
