RE: British withdrawal from Northern Ireland

Perhaps reading a book called “Bandit Country” would enlighten a number of people.

Republicans are a group who want to see Northern Ireland returned to the ‘republic’ to form a united ireland. Thats all they want.

Loyalists however would like to see Northern Ireland remain a province at the very least, of the United Kingdom.

These groups happen to fall into two religious groups.

    This IS steeped in history.

Mixtecs assumption that ireland was split up by a king in the 1600’s doesnt give much evidence(for example which king?). i personally do not know the history to this, THAT far back but would be interested to know about it.

I do know that there was rebellion basically because of the potato famines and lack of support from mainland UK. this in some respect is the beginnings of the real troubles in northern Ireland.

This situation is very complex, and I defy many IRISH people to explain it or even understand it.

It is well known that the IRA’s main task is to throw the United kingdom security forces from that particular province, or body of land and re unite it with the Republic of ireland, or Eire. This is their only and full time occupation within the group. as a member of any guise of the IRA whether it be the original force or a splinter faction of this force. Its members are therefore signed up to a life as a member of the IRA and as such are bound by its still secretive ground rules. which broadly expanded are as such:

Do as you are asked by a ‘senior’ figure within the movement.

Expect Death upon committing an act of betrayal, at the first opportunity.

    These rules are quite simple.

Upon taking this burden you are then pitted in a fight for the united republic supposedly.

in many cases most ‘full time’ members arrive at membership through helping out, and undertaking tasks such as ‘dicking’ for security forces. Also collecting the materials for explosives features heavily in a prospective members IRA life.

this is of course a hark back to the bad days of the seventies and early eighties.

Since the early 90’s things have of course quietened down ,in most respects, although there have been some attrocities, all terrorist initiated, whatever you may read in the media.

The IRA put upon itself that the only way to remove the british government from the shores of Eire was through violence. In its first inception the Irish Republican Army was in fact composed for the most part of the local population raising arms, assisted by a small contingent of military trained personnel.

Upon the ressurection of this name the IRA a number of decades later became a faceless terror organisation. this organisation wished to use underhand other wise guerilla tactics to try to oust once more the british government from that particular piece of land. With the IRA’s re-establishemnt a number of loyalist paramilitary groups would follow. These groups for the most part are made up of the UDA UFF and the UVF. respectively the Ulster Defence Force, the Ulster Freedom Fighters, and the Ulster Volunteer force. It is very easy for any member to trace the beginings of any and all paramilitary groups within Northern Ireland.

An ever expanding security force was required to try to control these forces, both loyalist and republican. The RUC as was, aswell as the UDA were assisted by the british armed and security forces.

There are very many actions that have been carried out by any and all of the paramilitary forces, which are too many to be recounted here. In some respects it would appear that the loyalist paramilitary groups are on ‘our side’ but of course, they are still committing acts of terrorism and criminal offences. The loyalist groups do not feature in the news very often and did not embark upon the same kind of mission as the terrorists, mainly because their sworn enemy was different. This is no excuse for them committing crimninal or terrorist acts.

Factions such as the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) and the Real IRA were set up because of a difference of opinions within the main IRA group. In fact as far as I am aware the Real IRA was set up by a couple who felt that the Belfast Brigade and thus the movement leaders were not adhering to the traditional rules as set out by the original IRA members, in that they seemed to be ‘loosing their bottle’ by wanting to open a political front to the situation. the PIRA is a faction group, and often an embarrasment to the IRA as was, who felt that neither of the other groups was getting what was needed, and that the only solution was to increase violence and heighten secterianism.

For the most part it has been the PIRA that has caused most problems for the security forces in recent times. although often put under the cover of the IRA itself by the media.

The PIRA is regarded as being more lethal because it is controlled and thus functions in a violent manner, libale to do anything at short notice.

fortunately the security forces are able to obtain information on these people and thus trace, track, and in some cases dis-arm weapons and explosives that might be used in any bomb.

There is too much to write about here save for the fact that there is too much to write about, some of which i’m really not at liberty to talk about, however fro the most part SAS books can be fiction, and in most cases are not as accurate as they could be, for obvious reasons, however a book by a man calling himself ‘james renee’ might be of interest to the majority and talks about aspects of one paraticular security opeation. its called ‘the operators’. this book from its setting appears to be about situations taking place in the 80’s. There is also a book about the first woman SAS member, however I am not aware that women were allowed to operate within the SAS. This means that she is left with little option, and as the book is basically about northern ireland, it appears that she was also a member of the same force.

I can only say that those of you truly interested in this situation must read all there is to read and hope your a good bull ##### detector.

RE: British withdrawal from Northern Ireland

give it back to the irish republic, fed up with the lies and two crossing backstabbing hypocritical nonsense that emanates from any of the political fronts for the hard liners. stupid bastards take up too much of our time and money.

give them back to their southern friends, they spend enuff of their time there evading the british security forces, who try as hard as they can against non cooperative guarda officers who it appears are often paid off by the hardliners, whatever the idiots are calling themselves these days. I am aware that the UDA/UVF/UFF dont escape to southern ireland allot of the time.

    RE: Bulldog

ageorge, you quoted seeing a white and red bulldog, the only ones of this type were operated by the HKAAF. They were overall white with a large diagonal band, in red down the side of the fuselage, the wingtips were also red.

UAS/EFT Trainers were painted Red and gray, altho i’ll give you the fact that the gray was quite light- but not white.

However no matter, nice to see these lovely aircraft, of which I spent over forty hours flying in my short time associated with the RAF. They are much more ideal as trainers than C152’s and the poor visibility and inaccurate instruments- read fuel gauges that are ignored-they have to offer. I also have experience to solo in C152’s

If the aircraft is a RAF one its come from storage at RAF Shawbury.

Very nice pictures keithmac, a privileged man, no doubt, if least of all to live between lossie and kinloss!!

if you mean a scottish aviation/beagle/BAe bulldog, its probably an ex Honk kong Auxiliary airforce example and it could be going anywhere to any airfield, probably operational, as seen in one of this months General aviation magazines.

    RE: Asteroid approaching earth.

and you believe everything you hear or read in the news….if it had been big enuff to take out part of the earth, there would have been more appreciable effects……not just a tail of fire, its safe to say that any meteorite you see will almost all burn up in the atmosphere, as it encounters the friction of the atmosphere.

One such side effects is a crazy crazy meteorological pattern.

Maybe these are just false alarms, but because of the lack of funding for these projects you can see how they are important to be publicised because of the possible monetary funding available.
