RE: DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?

    If I believed in a god……………………..lol

well there arent any firm explanations anyway you look at things I think everyone believes in somthing different personally I believe in myself- i have no need to entrust my destiny to anybody or anyone else. thats no offence to anyone else here because we are all free to believe in what we want to, and this should, and i do respect that I think. I think thats good as long as you have a full and proper understanding of the world around you ,and are not blinkered into a one path life. I think learning is one of the greatest things out there. It upsets me to know that a great deal of UK school children dont know who Winston Churchill is, and that all around the world round learning is dropping off in schools to concentrate less time on less subjects its a shame.

I just cant understand how someone can be soo devoted to one belief that they can set themselves on fire in the street.

there were a number of missions carried out by 9 and 617 sqrn involving the converted aircraft to carry the tallboy and later on the grandslam weapons. the tallboys were also used with some effect to breach canals in france and the low countries to hinder barge traffic. grandslams were used on Uboat pens on the coast of france and V weapon factories further inland. the grandslam was able to penetrate roughly 15 feet of hardened concrete if I rememeber. this was achieved by dropping from a great height and having the weapon spin stabilized in the fall from appropriatly positioned tail fins. these weapons were also used to attack viaducts/aquaducts(cant remember which) in italy by dropping them at the base of the middle piles. Many missions extended to stop overs in russia- as with the ploesti oil field missions. The aircraft were going to be used in operation Tiger in the far east, had the war not ended when it did.
Lincolns were also slated for this mission

    RE: What happened in Jennin?

they say a picture can tell a thousand words.

those words can be manipulated easily. depends where you point the camera how close you focus how you get the people to pose(not always real life stuff). it depends what effect you want to get doesnt it?

objective and journalism should not be in the same sentance unless there is a ‘not’ between them.

I believe israel is being jumped on here, for doing exactly what america, britain, canada, germany, france, china and russia are doing right now as I type. thats removing a threat to their national security. Israel has put up with palestinian and other terrorists for quite long enough. constantly pulled back on the leash by america(because europe really doenst have much of an effect does it???)until now. I suppose its because its ‘flavour of the month’ and it’ll be forgotten soon, as no ‘new’ news comes from that region. No country has a leg to stand on when they say that Israel is wholly wrong in their action. Every country has done this at one point or another throughout its history. soo many people can be soo hypocritical, and its usually those with a very narrow understanding of the issue at hand, and those that are farthest away from the issue at hand. I need to ask, who should we be blaming IF(and only if because it HASNT BEEN PROVEN IN ANYWAY) there has been a massacre at jennin. Should we blame the Israeli trooops? should we blame those civilains for getting in the way in a battle zone, where NOBODY is assured safety, or should we blame the terrorists for choosing to fight in an area where they KNEW there were civilians- family members and friends-and knew that israeli forces would bring to bare heavy calibre weapons and munitions which have a large area effect. KNEW that they would be hiding behind civilians and purposely using them as a shield, and coercing them(in effect making them terrorists anyway, and in that sense fair game for israeli military forces) to try and outwit the israelis and draw them into traps. I know where my buck would stop.

It appears that the media world is supporting the palestinians. The palestinians are crying about whats happenned and how bad the israelis are. I saw an Israeli minister basically in no way connected to defense torn apart by some idiot on channel one late at night two weeks ago, who blithely did not listen and just blasted this minister with questions which he had already answered just trying to make him look bad for stating that it was a vital action to defend their country. Allot of people around you dont know much about the world around themselves, until someone asks them about it, and allot of people are prepared to believe the first thing they see in the papers or on the news. with no background information with which to give a better understanding of the events, and to be able to form a valid opinion. Easy lessons are sometimes the hardest to learn. I say Israel should stop wasting its money, time, men/women and ammunition pull out of the area altogether. suits me, they wont be loosing any people and they will be saving money- and keeping the world nice and happy. I also say that Israel use its commando units to start planting car bombs outside palestinian shopping centres and next to bus stops, holding people hostage that sort of thing. But I’m sure israel would get a pelting for that too. for doing exactly what the palestinian terrorist and other terrorist factions are doing to Israel right now.

I also say that if you cant write posts with a good foundation, and be able to back up what you say, you’ll get laughed at.

RE: Airborne T-80 Main Battle Tank

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-04-02 AT 12:55 PM (GMT)]think hes using the ‘tease and reveal’ method of posting garry. This is nothing new, they put large wings and a twin boom tail on a t34 and it would take off when driven at full pelt, wouldnt like to think about the glide ratio on that- single figures definitly!!lol]

about firing the gun tho——-what a retarding effect that would have!!, it must have been shifting, or have they changed the design so that its recoiless??

you had to be careful about what speed you fired the guns at in aircraft during WW2 in the climb or any other manouver really, in the climb you could loose ten knots from a good burst because of the recoil, and thus a force against the aircrafts acceleration when firing

now imagine a 120mm or whatever the size is of a t80 firing from an ‘air vehicle’ that is only just generating enough lift from its forward speed. velocity vector steeeeeeeeeeeeraight down.

oh, unless its the particularly boring option, and its just leaving the ground whilst travelling at speed across rough terrain….which it prob is isnt it? 🙁

lol elp, theres plenty above the clouds!! and even if it is a bit nippy here, that greenhouse effect is a good thing, with bone dome and flyingsuit+vest you are definitly toasty warm! and if it is a bit too bright for us, well gee thats what the dark perspex is all about! we used to work/play hard, so it was never cold!!!

but then a high wing will stop you from burning your knees when your pottering about in your shorts up there lol
