I noted that the flypast by the Lancaster and two Spitfires was exactly on time to the second ,part of the excellent tribute. I have watched several special programmes today and found it all very emotional.
My wish is that tolerance and diplomancy reduce the number of lives lost in future conflicts and that politicians continue to appreciate the real cost of errors made. The extra effort needed to avoid physical conflict is worthwhile. An appreciation of why good communication skills are as essential as a strong defence force is also needed.
I wonder what the time difference was between loss of comms in the uk and his location in Switzerland? I assume a Request News signal with the aircraft callsign was sent across the European air traffic network.
I can think of many occasions when SAR callouts have happened due to hillwalkers and mariners who fail to inform the correct people when they change plans. It seems unfair when light aircraft get more publicity like this case.
G-ECAN due to Depart Inverness for Kirkwall 1115 Friday, GAAWO Moth not taking part sadly, Hornet Moth GADNE is planned also to follow the route to Kirkwall.
Well said Mark, a good summing up of my own view.
There are two words that do not go well together and have an effect on the discussions about this subject.
Logic and Emotion.
That was lovely.
Phew , that is a stunning example of poor journalism, never letting the facts get in the way of a good angle. And heading each online page with one persons picture which by inference links him to illegal practice.Even quoting Justin Tayler who has been found guilty in recent court action, of course that was left out !
Thanks for sharing these rather good pics. Its a looong way for me to ge tthere so i always enjoy your views. The Islander scheme is very special, Kings Flight markings, I wonder why?
Well why dont you ask them, only a few clicks away,

In the spirit of fair play and having watched all the programmes in the series I would say that the company surveys all wreck sites. They do carry out archaeology and have helped solve missing ship submarine puzzles. They have a respect for those who lost lives at sea.
To say other wise is to ignore the docimentary of them at work.
I have found that glider clubs are amongst the most welcoming places for enthusiasts to visit and you may be invited for a flight, well worth trying.
So popular that the download limit has been reached and therfore no pics on show.
I question the provenance of this Thread. I believe that parts of it are based on items recovered from Old Threads which may be original but on the other hand may be the result of using a modern word processor.

Like your initial reactions Tangmere LOL.Reminds me of the early days when Control Column used to publish very grainy photos of bits sticking out of the sand. And then it took two months before we found out it was probably a twin engined bomber. Oh how times and expectations have changed.
I know of several who self insure, they just cannot afford the premiums so put aside an amount each month into a fund whic then is used for maintenance.
They accept the risk instead of saying good bye to the premiums.
