    Rabie,

I like the other Uncle Sam poster better that is popular in the USN:

RE: SCREW NATO — Old Europe responds

    [updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-02-03 AT 06:59 AM (GMT)]Geforce,

Were you hyper-ventilating this much about war when we were bombing the hell out of Yugoslavia in 1999?

Your lack of WWII knowledge has never impressed me in the past so don’t start frothing at the mouth now like you know something about the topic. V. Manstien among others was wondering why France didn’t roll in and kick Germany’s head in at late ’39. They had the ability to do it at that time. Oh well. }>

I guess when France joins in at the last second and provides some help for the effort against Iraq, Germany will be left in a “unilateral” posture holding the bag with a funny look on their face. Their brilliant idea of adding more U.N. inspectors was worth a laugh or two. It would give Iraq endless entertainment value.

NATO served it’s purpose years ago. Getting rid of it now would be a good thing. Kicking the U.N. out of N.Y. should be next }>

    RE: lonely planet

Korea is easy to get around in Arthur. Just if a soldier of the ROK or ROKAF security tells to to halt while you are taking a photo, that means FREEZE. Don’t reach for anything, don’t turn etc. A nice place but when it comes to security and knowing the places you wedge yourself into, maybe not as enjoyable as your Russian visits. }>

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-01-03 AT 05:03 AM (GMT)]Well office space there always has its highs and lows. There were times when it was hard to populate that place up to the % level that they wanted to in order to make a profit on office rental. The internet boom up till 99-00 solved that. Up to the point of when the towers came down office occupancy was just starting to drop some. If they built something there, they have to get their money back with office space rental. Part of the problem is I think people don’t want to work in high profile buildings that figuratively have a bullseye painted on the side of them. Great view though from that location. If they put something big there, they will have to put some Sea Sparrows and Phalanx on the roof. 😮

My sister up until recently for years worked in the American Kennel Club HQ (taught people how to be dog show judges 😛 )right around the corner from Grand Central Station. Nice location. There are a lot of neat locations in Manhatten to work that aren’t so high profile.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-01-03 AT 05:14 AM (GMT)]Darn Ink that was a damn nice thing for you to say.

As a kid I had been to the World Trade Center more than a few times. Loved it. It was fun to see everything in it and just a lot of fun to be up on the roof on a nice day. (Always loved Manhatten even though I am originally from Michigan.) You could in a very short time; go up in the Empire State Building, then the WTC then boat out to the Statue of Liberty. Fun.

A few years back I went to see the house I grew up in , in Michigan. It had been years. A really nice farm. Anyway a weird feeling hits you in the head when you do that. It is after all the place you grew up in. A little startling. Maybe some of you have had a similar experience.

Anyway I just kind of put the WTC out of my head for a long time. Don’t want to see pictures or video of it burning etc. Didn’t put any thought to it, just put it out of my mind for good.

I was in a book store a while back and there was big picture book on the WTC. All these nice photos of it. Photos inside etc. After looking though it for a moment I couldn’t look at it anymore and put it down. Thats when I knew how I felt about that place. Kind of a startling unpleasant experience. I will never see this place again.

Don’t even know if I ever want to go back to Manhatten again. I would rather remember it the way it was. Oh well.

I hope they don’t build anything there.

    RE: Your thoughts on Globalisation?

There should be a balance. You can’t have companies steamrollering whole industries. Having said that; I enjoy seeing all the anti-Globalisation protestors ( that look like rejects from the 60s ) get bashed by police. }>

    RE: alternative browsers

Opera is very fast. It reads web pages and follows the rules of HTML formating to the exception of all else. Since many people use Frontpage to make websites. Opera tends not to display these pages 100% correctly all the time because Frontpage in it’s default setting doesn’t do 100% compliant HTML code. Also, Frontpage on some of its cute functions like glowing links and mouseover functions, sometimes uses Microsofts verson of Java ( not SUNs ) so again some stuff may not read correctly in Opera. Again, same with Javascript snipets. Stuff that you create using Frontpage may not display the way you want unless you use IE.
Database connectivity in Frontpage? for dead simple stuff like connecting to an access database Frontpage will use all kinds of Active X / Visual Basic instead of traditional “com” opjects in ASP. So again expecting Opera to display some of this stuff is more luck than anything. If you want dynamic ASP code that you can read; hand code it.

Opera has a cool pop up stopper that works on the fly. So for myself I use IE and go along with the trend so there is no hassle .. “baaaaaaa ” Just make sure you update your IE at the Microsoft website and get the latest patches. IE has all kinds of security exploits. More and more people are making webpages that are not 100% HTML compliant.

I used to like Netscape but it is screwy now and installs AOL all over the place.

Neoplanet is cool. Haven’t used it in over a year.
