WOW! Nice work !
Furthermore as reported by Aviation Leak, UK isn’t 100% sold that their JSF has to be a “B”, due to weight/power/carry issues that show concern with the B. Call that: Plan B and a half, so to speak.
Like I say, if this whole thing gets cancelled, it will be absolutely great.
It isnt. Excact for that case five CIA people were arrested and had to leave France. The “intelligent” US-response was to send a similar number of French diplomats at home.
What event? The previously mentioned event in the posts above were SIGINT/COMINT….. which for us is under the Army, USAF, USN with some tech assist and info flow through NSA. CIA doesn’t get involved in that.
This kind of answered my own question of how a CH-47 fits into a C-17.

I am curious. You all buy a bunch of stuff from us. It might be me, but isn’t the amount of in country workshare you do on these deals ( fixed wing aircraft, helos, whatever ) rather low? You have multiple shops in-country that do aerospace component work. It seems like there could be more of this work done in Australia when these deals are cut. Am I wrong?
I could see R&D spending on this project going out of sight.
😀
Sorry, somebody had to say it.
The whole Lancer thing was pretty brilliant IMHO. I mean, they had limited cash, limited options and spent it well…. All things considered. Maybe we can get Romanians to manage our military spending. :p
The theory that it is used to monitor commerce is just that: theory.
Funny how no-one is mentioning the nasty role chem warefare would play.
Nato repels 1st wave of Warpac attacks, Warpac hits back with chem weapons, Nato hit back with tac nukes, Warpac hits back with IRBMs. London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and Madrid, all glowing orange.
Nato launches a swarm of nuke cruise missiles. Warsaw, Budapest, Leningrad all hit badly.
Before long, Washington, New York, LA, San Francisco, Moscow, Vladivostok, Kiev all burning nuclear wreaks.
3 billion lives gone within the space of a mionth????? Welcome to hell. Sorry for oversimplifictions. It’s late and I’ve got a headache….:-(
Chem warfare goes to tac-nuke response almost right away. Can’t be too careful. Which blows the conventional-only fantasy right off the table. Which is exactly what this whole thread is: fantasy.
1. There wouldn’t be any Warsaw Pact suprise for very obvious reasons.
2. Any intentions getting up to the build up level means an automatic rise of the DEFCON level. ( Again, the boy scouts have it right: Be prepared ).
All the ELINT/SIGINT installations from ‘Cold War times’ are used for industrial espionage inside Europe mainly! .
Source?
Hey, it not like there would ever be an actual war between the US and China. Israelites are forward looking chaps. Hell, even the Taiwanese know this and are supplying China with American aviation product whenever possible.
Yup and we have examples of Chicoms that become U.S. naturalized citizens. Then we are dumb enough to put them into a sensitive defense job. They in turn get picked up for espionage for selling tech to the PLA. That of course is only one type of example and not trying to pick on anyone.
As for the JSF code / self-support thing. As dumb as the JSF project is, that at least is a contractual thing that is an issue to be worked out between customer and vendor. The bleeding of tech to China by Israel is a catagory of industrial criminal behavior all it’s own.
If the Israel does get the JSF, how long before they claim it was passed to China? 😀
Oh it would probably be a few days or so. We supply Israel with stuff, and they in-turn sell of the tech to put our troops in the Pacific at risk. It’s a great sham. 😉
The list of bled U.S. tech via Israel’s orient express, is long.
Also another contributor is high-end machine tool tech that was bled to the PRC over many years —

Not to mention all of the PLA front companies around the world and industrial espionage.
Good luck on IDF ever seeing JSF. Parity is already blown out in favor of Israel… i.e. we let Israel have a large number of JDAM kits sometime back and then the Israeli lobby in the U.S. Congre$$ crys a river when the Harpoon is marketed to Egypt. Kind of amusing. The parity that was part of the old Camp David agreements years ago, has been blown right out of the water. The only fair thing is that if Israel gets JSF, so should Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Me? I hate the corrupt FMA and FMS system. So if it was up to me, our “Allies” wouldn’t get anything.
Israel isn’t even a JSF partner. It is a industry supplier. Seems some of the Israeli press needs to re-educate themselves to that fact.
AESA does always sound sexier with what we are learning about it. However I was just thinking of yanking out the guts of the flight controls and having them replaced with something better…. and putting in a new modern cockpit. This would make the maintenance time much less overall…. One of the things that was promised to the B-1 when it was first downsized some years back is that the “savings” would be farmed back into the B-1 upgrades. “The man” kinda fibbed on that one.
It is interesting to note also that all of the 51% mission up time jazz a few years ago, had an interesting story behind it that most never heard… they just saw the 51% and thought “maintenance pig”. However, seeing as “the man” only funded sustainment/spares items somewhere around 49%,…. the maintainers in the field were doing 2% better than the resources that were given to them. So, had the B-1 community been funded correctly on sustainment, it wouldn’t have been such a issue. Again though, I think funding flight control guts replacement and giving it a new modern cockpit, is the way to go. It is thousands of non-sexy issues like this, that really makes the USAF a killing force, NOT bleeding ourselves white and wasting huge amounts of cash on something we don’t need: JSF.
If you order V-22, you get a reduced price on orders of body bags.
