There is no point reproducing an F-22 as I doubt most Russian airstrips and winter conditions would be suitable for such an aircraft.
Interesting theory, as the next Raptor basing will be in Alaska.
I want to see money put into the B-1 for a new modern cockpit and flight controls. ( Improve mission up times / less maintenance stuff to do ).
Wow. Thats a lot of knock-offs.
I’ve tried being nice… it doesn’t work. People like Sferrin think anybody who says anything nice about anything Russian has to be corrected… there is nothing nice or good about Russia or its people… anything they have that actually works is copied from the west… not to mention the US is perfect and pure and so so sick of being misunderstood by everyone else on the planet. They aren’t self centred egotists that have only self interest to guide their foreign policy. When they invade Iraq or demand crippling sanctions on countries like North Korea or Cuba or Iran it is for the good of the world and the good of those being sanctioned…
I am sure glad you of all people will show us our failings. 😉 This thread rates a low “2” , if that, on the quality of information.

Be interesting to see how many body bags this fools errand of an aircraft can fill in high ops tempo work.
Dude that’s called Firefox. Clint Eastwood stole one from Bilyarsk in Russia 😀
Ah yes. One of my favorite documentary films of the cold war. :p
Let’s assume (following of the time NATO concerns) that WP air forces would strike first and both sides would be using only conventional weapons.
All interesting theories, that ignore one naked fact: There would be no suprise to the attack.
-Potsdam agreement – People on both sides driving around in cars being able to view ground and notice ( report ) any change in forces and build up.
-The intense amount of SIGINT, ELINT, COMINT activity going on.
-Other traditional recon assets. U2 (SAR slant range imaging ), space imaging etc.
-Any build up to attack level would take time, and be noted. Good luck.
How many more posts is all this ostfront stuff going to go on here?
Sukhoi faces huge cost esclation: CAG
NEW DELHI, MAY 19 (PTI)Licensed production of multi-role Sukhoi-30MKI fighters in the country is running into huge costs overruns and some of them in the latest batch are flying without some advanced critical airborne systems.
To add to this, the indigenous manufacture of the Russian frontline fighters is working out to more than the cost of imports, according to the latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) placed in Parliament today.
Three critical airborne systems of the fighters– electronic warfare system, reconissance system and direction finding modular radar have not not been integrated with the latest batch of aircraft delivered by the Russians under the November 1996 contract, the report said.
Manufacturing technology/skillset.
For example: Consider the one near one piece wing surface that made up the losing JSF contender by Boeing was an incredible feat. Manufacturing skill like that takes time to grow. Probably just a matter of time before China gets that skill… like most things.
Hmmm I guess no one liked the F-35 naming thread. It seems to have vanished.
On a similar note, the issue of adding yet more wiring to the B-52 so as to have fancy smart racks for internal PGMs ( JDAM, SDB etc ) is being solved by having wireless bomb racks in the bomb bay for bi-directional data to and from the bomb-nav position.
1 billion for 11 used/refirbed airframes? 😮
Russia ups its defense spending significantly and nobody has a single thing to say about it?
Hi Ink, hope you are doing well. Yeah interesting stuff. However it is probably more of a response to our getting too close to their back yard all the time doing things that are none of our business: Georgia ( training using U.S. Specfors … ) Interfering in the Ukraine etc etc. A lot of stuff has our name all over it. Combined with the greater than thou attitude of our moron_insurgent State Department, which makes a habit of talking down to people. Great way to win friends.
Funny how we see the Monroe Doctrine >link< as holy writ yet get confused when Russia reacts to our sticking our nose in their back yard.
As to Ru AF issues… When they take seriously, the concept of a well fed, well trained, well taken care of enlisted and officer cadre like the USAF ( what really makes the USAF effective )…. Call me. Until then, they will always have personnel problems with hair on them, as a normal course of doing business.
