I’m not to sure actually if Malcolm redone all the wireing on our Canny. I know he had a few headaches with some of it, but she pretty much works ok now. We had quite a few hydraulic leaks to content with, but the two of us worked at it and stopped them. The hand pump in the cockpit got quite stiff once all the fluid was circulating around the system………..you could get in trouble saying things like that to often ๐ฎ
Not very mate to be honest. She needs to be moved elsewhere. Preferably in the enclosure at Marston or somewhere else   ๐
Wow they have their work cut out for them if they do anything to that plane….
It can be saved Pete to be honest. It’s not in that bad a condition considering where it’s sat.
A few panels are dented and the cockpit is stripped but it can be rescued. ๐
You can’t get enough info when your restoring these birds and books are a valuable assett! Every airframe I have come into contact with at the museum, I have had books galore on, only for reference purposes to get the restoration as accurate as possible.
I find the maintenance manuals a god send to! I have one for each airframe I’ve worked on and would be lost without them!
Well Heidi wont be with me so I will do my best, give me something to fix or build Im ya gal but er give me a camera im worse than an ash tray on motorbike!!!
To be honest Bex, thats more the case with me and Martin. He is good at photography but I do the restoring of the airframes.
I’m showing him the ropes with working on our aircraft as he’s still a virgin at it but at the same time he’s showing me a few things with camera work and articles, but both together we are an unbeatable duo. We’ve done loads for the museum and we have excellent ideas that have fallen into place.
Rob, look out for email tomoro eve as im at gatwick for a few hours in the morning, fancy a nice shot of our Vixen?
No…………
just kidding. Course I would ๐ Thankyou. x
Well Rob, Phantom did say u were his “partner in crime”
What’s that supposed to mean?!!!
I’ve lost interest now!
No matter what I say, I will always be made out to be the bad egg here so there is no point in trying to explain myself ๐ก
Gentsโฆis another scrap yard thread really necessary?
๐
If you see these airframes as scrap then you are most certainly not an aviation lover or restorer!!!!
This is what we are all about!!! ๐
Yes you were bad wasn’t you mate. You never once came up the museum to help did you :diablo:
I had to go to work with my man fleu and it was not nice ๐ฎ Are you feeling for me yet!
These pictures we took on this day were good I admit, but, it was cold, raining, miserable………..we both came down with man fleu a day or so later ๐ Was it worth it?……………….
it was worth every nose dribbling moment!!!!! ๐
I think a big bonus for them to continue doing well will be to continue the production and release of the four 1/48th Canberra kits.
With the recent disbanding of the type from RAF service, I think they will be popular kits to buy. With all the different varients that can be produced, it opens up a whole can of worms for the scale modeller, me included. I would love to produce a model in that scale of our Canberra at the MAM.
Ah cheers – how’s the Whirlwind coming along? Will definitely go along to see that when it’s finished. Great work you guys are doing at Cov, if only I had a bit more spare time and had transport to get there i’d be mucking in too. Maybe in a few months time, fingers crossed
We’re doing quite well on her actually.
She’s been rubbed down and is ready for painting, but, we are still undesided on the colour scheme.
The Bristows markings you see in the picture above are not the only colours she had on. We have a B&W picture of her in a different colour, albeit still working for Bristows. This is the colour we want to do her in for a change. The problem we have, is we don’t have a colour picture of it in this other scheme to identify the shade of blue.
So until we come up with one. we’re stuck ๐
It could be anything really, but it certainly looks early design. Maybe 1930’s. Vickers Vimy comes too my head for some reason but who knows.
Like Melv said, we need info that would be on the hub of the prob.
Sorry, can’t be any more help than that…….

Has to be the Flea for me! ๐ฎ
