The finished product…….ish
WS838 is now in it’s prime. The work carried out today has seen the NF14 completed, minus a few stencils. The weather was excellent for work on the airframe, meaning it was completly painted in it’s new scheme………again 😀 😀
Enjoy the pictures……
Now come on Rob, spill the beans on that paint method… brush, roller or spray? I’ve heard wonderful stories about using 2-pack paint with a roller, I tried it – and it was awful. Please do share.
Roy.
It’s Leyland paint. Not 2 pack, not spreyed just ordinary Leyland paint, rollered on………but thinned out to a special way…………….3/4 paint and 1/4……something else 😀
Thanks for all the comments on this airframe, but I feel all is to come to a close soon as the NF14 is nearly finished.
Here are some more pictures I took today……..by the way, 31 degree heat is not a good temperature to paint……but it sure bakes the paint on well 😀
Those are superb photographs Brit. Very well taken.
The airframe is now nearly completed, with just a touch of Pearl Grey to do on the base of the s/board jet pipe and the rear of the fuz on the s/board side. Once complete the steciling will be finished and WS838 will have been completed.
Plenty of pictures tomorrow, with plenty more when she is complete…………onto the finishing of the Sea Vixen then 😀 😀
A very sad loss for his family and for the aviation community. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends……
RIP Paul 🙁
Err, ahem! DONE THAT and have just relayed the response! 😡 If we are discussing the authenticity of repaints, then these matters should be aired. The Meteor, Canberra and Hunter restorations are superb and a great credit to you and Malc., but it’s a shame the collection is spoilt by these anomalies and people are interested to know the reasons behind them!!!
Don’t care…..lost interest now!!
Nice stills. I love the Tiger shot and the Corsair looks so meaty too! 😉
Thanks
oh……….sorry 😀 😀
Their’s one aircraft missing off that list……………Japanese…….Zero…..Ooopps!!!
Is Rob Davies P-51 displaying with or without Canopy?
🙂
😮 Trust you 😮 😀
Save you trying to find it, here’s the list.

Look, if you have an issue about the Saudi flag, then come and visit our museum and speak to the Manager or Chairman of the Board of Trustee’s about it and vioce your opinions to them face to face and see what response you get. I’m sure you’ll be to busy to do that though 😡
Don’t bring all this political mumbo jumbo my way about a sodding foreign flag that should be painted on foreign aircraft cause I’m not interested!!
I posted a thread here to show people the progress work on our airframe. I didn’t do it to start a pathetic ‘I think this should be done, I think that should be done’ petty arguement!!!
In my own opinion, if you have issues with the way things are done at our museum then come and voice them to the proper authorities at MAM. Don’t target them to one invidual…….ie, ME 😡
cant see video robmac?
You need to sign up Pete. They will all appear then. 😉
Not we don’t use the foam. It’s not very good in my opinion. If you have a static airframe that is definatly not going to move then maybe yes, but moving wheels on concrete breaks up the foam. We are fortunate in having all the tyres on the rims (accept the Argosy) so we regularly check the pressures on the aircraft tyres and keep them inflated, not to full pressure, but enough to keep the wheel looking good and serviced.
In theory yes, and they do get moved occasionally, however it all depends on airframe conditon etc.
Hope that helps.
Kev 🙂
and I’ll back that………
