6 more members and it’ll be uploaded 😉
Cause I could be nasty and say make it 30 members………………………..nahhhhhh, just kidding 😀
I will say one thing…………………Aurora!! 😉
We could say that about a lot of the airframes flying at the moment Dave, but we’re gonna get into the usual yes it should, no it shouldn’t senario.
I can see your point my friend, but it is a flying example and therefore should be kept flying. If it was the only airframe in the world and it had been rendered un-airworthy, and the plan was to make it airworthy, being the only example left, I would then agree that it should be crated up and delivered to a museum for display.
Lets be realistic here guys! We do not know the first thing about shooting down an aircraft such as the B2 or B1! We can come up with these funny idea’s and mention all the equipment available, that we know of, to shoot them down, but don’t you think the Armed forces would be a little disturbed if they knew that a group of forum members could conjour up an idea to do it! We would all need to be professional weapons experts to do that and I don’t think that that is very realistic here, do you?
Not sure to be honest Thorny. Just turn the sound down and make your own Tornado noise 😀
Well I think Albert is right in what he says as the airframe is actually set to take up residense next to the Concorde at Filton. The person who represents himself and a company from Bristol are supposedly buying the Freighter from Hawkair Aviation in Canada later this year and it is going to be flown over. It is apparently going to be supported by the city of Bristol, two newspapers, a tv company and a fuel company, for the journey back here, but plans to keep it flying are, as usual, tentative providing certain requirements and support needs are met. Air Atlantique, here we come!!
According to a pulled thread I saw the other day, may be not 😮
Visious rumours and speculation Blue. Don’t worry 😉
I was told it belonged to Hawkair Aviation services in Canada and it was being purchased by an undisclosed buyer who represents himself and a group based in Bristol. All told, it is to have it’s final resting place next to Concorde at the Bristol Aero Collection at Filton later this year. Their are plans to keep it flying in the UK for an undetermined time, provided that certain requirements and support needs can be reached.
G-BISU was the last Freighter to fly in the UK but was destroyed in a non fatal crash while taking off from Enstone, Oxfordshire in 1996.
Maybe a new airframe to be maintained at Coventry perhaps!! Happy days!!……so long as they don’t move away 🙁
It was mentioned at the MAM the they were going to Kemble then it was Staverton and both came back as not happening or not true, however, this new venue, Deenethorpe, has not been mentioned before. Surely they wouldn’t want to pay for a re-vamp on an airfield!
It appears people are having problems with this link so try this one instead.
Are you talking about something fresh off the factory floor and not painted yet?
Basically yes, would be better if it flew before being painted, or even better, left bare metal for a reason.
Think you mean J79’s !
Oops! Yeah I mean J79’s, I best correct that. Thanks F4
I know it’s already been covered but had to shove this in. Close to my heart cause I work on her, ‘959’ at MAM.
I have the video of the MK30 accept mine has sound!! and to be honest the OVT’s performance is far more impressive than the MK’s although saying that both aircraft are Russian and both are good performers!!! 😀
Well I think your all gonna be wrong, cause the one place no one has mentioned, all beit nothing to do with the history of the Vulcan, is the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford.
Where better to display an aircraft with such power, where nearly 60% if the partisipants are forigners, to show them how it used to be done all those years ago, because then, when it came to bomber production, we were the best!!! 😉
