Forgive the naysayers oh lord, for they know not what they say…

I hope Fluffy is merciful to the ignorant…

    The mystery vanishes…

I’ve had the privilege of seeing inside a store of warbirds and have to say it was fascinating. That was because it was unknown to me. Imagine if ALL stores of aircraft were “outed”. Yes there’d be fascination for a while, but after that it’d be “just an old Spitfire wreck” (or whatever). Personally I like the mystery or when something comes out of hiding and is shown off by a proud owner. If I was in the fortunate position to have a private collection of aeroplanes, I wouldn’t want the public being nosey or touching them. The trouble is as soon as you have “outed” your collection or rare bird, people can’t help but to offer their opinion!! I’d always have the phrase ” It’s mine and I’ll do with it what I want” on my lips, because you can always expect some smart arris to complain that you’ve not done with it what THEY expected….

Hmmm, I’m afraid to say, after my earlier naysaying about models, that THAT looks pretty impressive. I wish I had the time and skills to turn one out. I’m sure I could afford one and there’s room to store it, but the biggest factor is making the beast that well. Is there an all black night fighter scheme available?

I didn’t hear the show, but the lady may have been referring to the ejection on the canopy on either type (Spit or Hurri) and the emergency door on the Hurricane. The later isn’t hinged as per the Spitfire, nor removed for entry, but it an emergency egress system.

I can’t help thinking that given the multitude of apparently insurmountable spares issues, the best place for the Beaufighter would be as a static with the IWM. It would fill quite a sizeable gap in the latter’s collection while looking much less forlorn than it now does, and clearing up a great chunk of hangar space for TFC.

I’m afraid TT that IWM wouldn’t have the funds to purchase the Beau, they can’t even inflate the Lancaster oleos…
