I can get along with anyone here, but that doesn’ t mean I agree with some views stated on this forum. Lately I don’ t feel like posting to some subjects because of the tone in some subjects, I enjoy reading the post though.

Never sees to amaze me what kind of articles are printed in the press, yes both in Europe and in America (for the rest of the world for that matter). I would not claim to be an intellectual nor do I claim to be an expert in American history. But I think that an everidge European does know more about the history of America then the other way around.

I happened to agree with most Americans that the right to state an opinion is very important, why is it that this only applies to Americans and not to Europeans which are against some part of the foreign policy it is not accepted by the current administration. Why is it that the GW Bush administration is disrespectful at best towards the Europeans? If you could explain to me this it would be much appreciated.

Democracy is not just do what ever the majority of the people want. It has to have some element of what the minority wants, the people in Washington DC also have to serve the democrats, liberals etc. In my (narrow minded European perspective) a democracy has to have an balance in it, your article states that a mine worker, an auto assembler and a farmer does carry as much moral social and weight then every one else. I think if the campaigns run in the US consumes this kind of money as it does nowadays the elections can’ t be fair. Because a new party will never have a change because they cannot have the television commercials as the two big parties do etc. If you call America a more democratic country then the European Union, I have to agree there, but the EU isn’t a country yet. In the case of the individual states which make up the union it’s just plain rubbish if you state it like this.

You have to understand the democratic party and it’s views are regarded here in the Netherlands at least as a right wing party. Father right then any main stream party in the Netherlands.

The third point is very interesting. I think we here in Europe should be more competitive, but you should remember that we can’t all be at the top, so there needs to be some protection for the people that just can’t heck it so to say. But that works both ways of course.

It is said to see the America thinks it can rule the world by it self. Anyone discarding with its views are discarded as not relevant, instead of listen to its arguments and the other way around. Then we could all be enriched by each others views so we can all happily live ever after.

I think Europe can learn allot from the USA but the same goes for the great all mighty US, they can learn allot from Europe as well. Especially on the social-economics.
The success of a country isn’t measured by it’s wealth but how they treat the weakest in a society.

A well all of the above is written down by an ignorant European 25 year old, so what does he know about the world at large?

    Regards,

    Jeroen

BTW a populist is someone who listen to the feeling on the everidge person and don’t listen to arguments at all. As for the capital punishment, well most of you know where I stand on that.
