When the Brits buy theirs, will they start calling them Globmaster C.1s?
Right choice or not, its refreshing to see a country that is actualy DOING something about the airlift problem.
Maybe they will but Hornets….probably not. The Super Bug isnt one of my favs anyways………but the US is getting “tight” with India……which isnt a bad thing (unless ur China) Next….look for the US to start making noises with Vietnam. Wonder when we’ll offer THEM F-16s?
I just read, ahh, learned, that the 5 Australian A330-200 MRTTs will be fitted with a refuelling boom system, so they can refuel the C-17. The British MRTT’s can’t refuel their C-17s.
BTW, Australian chose the Lockheed Martin’s AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Stand-off Missile (or JASSM) cruise missile AIR 5418 Follow-on Standoff Weapon (FOSOW) requirement.

And for good measure they will be able to refuel the F-111s as well. If the Brits were really interested, I’m sur Marshalls could fit a probe on the Globemaster without too much difficulty….they’re really pretty good at such things.
It kinda irks me when people compare the A400 (not even flown yet) to the C-130J, yet when its pointed out that the C-17 can carry more they say, Oh its not in the same class as the Globemaster……….well….the same applies to the 130J…….they are in 2 very different classes…..the A400 will be bigger……..all else remains to be seen…….but the fact remains that the 130 has been in production 50 years and is used by more air forces than any othe A/C. When the A400 can make that claim I will rejoice…..but till then I prefer the good ol 130! Jumped out of more than one of them I can tell you……..
The A400 will be a good aircraft……but befor putting the C-130 down, please consider that it has been in continuos(sp) production for about 50 years……….when the A400 reaches that milestone, then I will concede its a superior aircraft.
CSS Atlanta?
Well if the Brits DO ever get a carrier with “cats again, I’d LOVE to see some T-45s in FAA markings!
How bout Rafale with an F414?l
I do wish navalized Typhoon would stop being brought up. I’m sorry but it just will NEVER happen. With the state of deffense budgets in Europe today (including UK) Sea Typhoon is a total nonstarter………in fact I would not be surprised (saddened but not surprised) if the UK carrier program is killed.
It would force the Brits to have REAL carriers…not STOVL nonsense. But…..they would still need to get the cats from the US.
I’v allways liked the Argentine Pucara……very German looking plane.
SU-25s and AN-12s……..
Its a shame that it never found anymore buyers………fairly decent chopper
I’v heard rumors that an FW-190D9 is being rebuilt to fly with an Allison V-1710……..any truth to that? Also…..any possibility that an ME-110 could be restored to flying condition?
