I guess I’m trying to find out the combat aircraft from say ww2 to now that was used by more navies off carriers. No helos.

One of the stated reasons for the program was that officers are on a certain “carreer” path to command rank…….Warrants are not.

I agree……….the 767 makes very good sense. Its already in production, pretty much developed and is a tremendous improvement over the KC-135.

NH-90, EH-101, or S-92….ANYTHING would be better for the Marines than the V-22 “Deathtrap”!

I’m gonna miss the F-14! Grew up around NAS Oceana (only a mile from there now) I well remember when the A-6 was in residence here. Seeing a squadron of Tomcats fly over at the end of a deployment is something to see. They will be missed!

So what is the RAF down to now…..12 fast jet squadrons? How can they possibly come back from that? I have the feeling that the RAF is gonna end up as a Typhoon only force………

IMHO the USAF is gonna go with the 767…..probably. The only other 2 A/C I can see would be the 787 (which has the advantage? of being a ways off, so descission time is in the 2010-15 time frame ) or the A330…..and I really cant see Congress going along with that no matter how good a plane it is. There will probably also be a small number of MC-130J Combat Talon IIs………
