I agree with joeinTX.
The Koreans have a Harpoon capability on their F-15Ks.
Looks like a Cylon Raider…………. 😀
At this point….ANYTHING…..other than the 737……would be an improvement on the KC-135.
From what I’v been reading….it looks like the AF wants to replace its MC-130 Combat Talons with either a 737 based airframe or a KC-130J. So it looks like they need a platform for refueling special warfare helicopters and may not require a “flying boom”. If thats the case my bet will be on the KC-130J. Which still leaves the AF with needing to replace the KC-135. The 777 could do this, but at very great cost. I can’t see a 737 airframe doing this as it would be just too small. So the choice would seem to be….A330……777…..767….or (longshot?) 787. Or the AF could buy a bunch of used DC-10s but that doesn’t seem too likely.
I can’t see the 737 becoming a tanker in the USAF. If there is a “high-low” mix it will prob be 777/767. The 767 isnt all that much more expensive than the 737, is a newer design, and can carry much more payload. In other words….its just way more flexible than the 737.
I’d rather see a “K-787″……….is the 737 even big enough for a “flying boom” fueling pole?
I’d like to see the Japanese get into the Typhoon business. But if they went for the F-22….that’d be ok.
How would the MIG-17 have stacked against a Hunter?
Its nice to see reminders of a time when Britain had REAL aircraft carriers……..
Um….I was joking with the Argentina thing………I don’t think Britain would EVER sell Argentina another A/C carrier.
Well…..”C”s gonna have a bigger wing. Wonder if they’ll be quieter than the F-18?
Sounds reasonable. Which meand the Brits will NEVER do it.
I just don’t agree with the concept of “Joint Force Harrier”……..I don’t think it will work in the long run for the reason that basing RAF aircraft on carriers has never worked. The RAF simply will not “care” (for want of a better word) about a small force of A/C that it doesn’t have total control over. Not a fan of the “TAG” at all. IF the 2 ships are built, they should have dedicated FAA A/C to fly from them. In training costs alone I feel this maked more sense than “joint” basing……
I’m betting Venezuela goes for MIG-29s. Maybe with a few SU-25s also. But I think you will see the US pretty much ignore Latin America. They pose absolutly NO threat to the US and regardless of how they may feel, they just are not a priority to the United States right now.
