according to Febuary 2006 issue of IDR,PLAAF antenna for Y-8 “balance beam” is 12 meter long, while Eyrin is 8 meter.
according to Chinese web site, that F1c may have new generation of locally design EW,speculation may be radar cancellation.or tow decoy.

3 MFDs are pretty standard these days, but not a lot of fighters have 3 humongous 8″x12″ MFDs, not even the FC-1’s sibling J-10.

During 2004 Zhuhai airshow,AVIC displayed mock up cockpit with 4 MFD and side stick controller.according to spokeman, cockpit belong to L-15,but concept could easily applied said to J-11B or J-X

If this new HUD install in FC-1, that would be excellent, matching with those advance large MFDs and nice all digial cockpit.

the defractive HUD was manufacture by Loyang optical,in fact it was first shown in 2002 Zhuhai airshow.

interesting to note, during late 90’s Thomson-CSF (now Thales) display small AESA for next generation of Anti ship missile.sdince phozotron ,for economic reason, display small AESA antenna (78 T/R module) the radar could easily fit inside a AtShM.

well, as far as I can read, in the 2006 Jan issue, the Japanese analyst clearly says:
It is obviously an AESA. Its large size might result from purly pursuing of detection power, or from mmic tech limit.

    read it again.

Could it be that 052C and KJ-2000 use hybrid T/R module, rather than more expensive monolith circuit?
The first shipborne AESA was field by japanese navy in 1989,it used hybrid circuit t/R module.
,making antenna slight bit bigger than MMIC based AESA.

In January 2006 issue of Kanwa defense review,Japanese tech anaysis claim that 052C radar is simple to big for AESA.it large size indicate the radar system use PESA.

some question about the KJ-2000 radar.
I been reading in the Chinese website, claim that KJ2000 uses locally design AESA,but according to january 2006 issue of kanwa,Vega-NIIR chief designer A-50E radar system claim that they have sold main AWACS transmitter to china, and they believe KJ-2000 uses Vega transmitter.this could implied KJ2000 adapted PESA radar system.
MT artilce about airborne radar system claim that AESA has wider search angle (80+dgree) compare to 70 degree for PESA,that’s why wedgetail AWACS,MC-10 and Swedish Eyrin radar use just 2 radar antenna sufficicent to cover 360 degree,by contrast KJ-2000 with passivarray antenna has to use 3 antenna to provide 360 dg. coverage.

for the last 60 year after the ww-2,US policy outside of europe is a disaster, the problem is that in European politics is all about ideology, but outside of europe is all about culture and nationalism,US rightwing simple don’t understand it,they tend to view it as extension of global ideological conflict ,if not the christian right paranoia and cultural bias.
all the regime change such as iran, guatemala, zaire (belgian congo),vietnam prove to be PR or political disaster.if not catastrophie .it his own word,Robert mcnamara admit there’s there’s no domino theory at all, just pure fantasy by some rightwing within the pentagon and state dept.
right now the same guy or ideology that fantasize iraq WMD and china as “strategic competitor, are same guy who fantasize about domino theory.
military solution can sometime turn out to be worse solution.

do passive array antenna has “leap frog’ advantages over conventional slotted mechanical antenna? to date the only USAF aircraft ever has passvie array antenna was B-1 bomber.
