Well it only took 15 months but we started dismantling JD today ready for transport back to Speke later this week!!!
Weather was awful (that lovely sideways rain….) but to be finally getting stuck in was a great feeling.
Tasks achieved today where –
Removed main U/C doors
Airframe marked up ready for cutting and some preliminary cuts made
Flaps sectioned at wing cut ready for transportation
Start made on splitting control lines, pipework etc inside the fuselage
Start made of derivetting tailplanes
The plan for tomorrow is to remove the wings and continue with the derivetting and splitting mentioned above. Depending how that all goes then we may have time to start on removing the rear fuselage.
XM172 – think I am right in saying you were at Blackpool today with work? If so then I apologise for not saying hello but I didnt have my phone with me.
ANON will be along shortly to post some pictures.
So please check back throughtout the week to see how things are progressing!
Jon
Is this legitimate given the amount of errors?
Jon
Jon H should be along shortly to share some news, but as he has just managed to get himself engaged, it may be a wee while while the enormity of his good lady finally saying yes sinks in!
That he can.
I am pleased to finally be able to announce that all being well, we will begin dismantling JD on Monday with a view to having it back at Speke within a fortnight. The plan is to get her back “home” sooner, but we have built some slack into the schedule if needed.
As for getting engaged, we have been together for 7 odd years and lived together for 5 of those, so Em has long since accepted I am a lost cause when it comes to this hobby of ours 😀
Jon
Harriers and Hunters are warbirds too in my book – or are we being snobby…..? :dev2:
I think the continual references to WW2 is a subtle clue 😉
Jon
Yes, that is a Sea Venom.
Bruce
Bruce – any idea of the paint colour used on that front bulkhead? Going to need some soon for VZ193.
Fouga, that picture is spot on and she looks better than I imagined! I wonder if Aeroventures looks as complete?
WP255 is a long term rebuild project like mine. She can be seen lurking in the back of this picture (not mine) –

Paul,
What happened to the NF10?
Bruce
I can answer that one Bruce 😀
It is in store at Aeroventure.
Jon
It was several inches deep in chicken feathers and other more suspicious stuff when it arrived.
Hi Paul,
I dont suppose you have any pictures from that time? Hardly glamourous, but all part of 193’s history 🙂
Jon
A bit more progress made.
Almost at the point where I can finally fit the floor and front bulkhead 😀
Jon
Thank you from me and Anon in a hotel near Heathrow 🙂
Jon
Am i too late to book an early bird ticket Mr Saunders?
Likewise (x2)

Do the mortal remains of DH.86 VH-USG count as a survivor?!

Jon
I wonder how many other places on google maps have the Reds on?
They have been at Blackpool for a year or two anyway 🙂

One for the Halifax fans… Serious hens teeth this one, but I still think that the seller is asking too much. £2700 for basically just the frame work.
Paul.
Has been on ebay for a month or so – see post #71. Started initially at £3750 from memory!
Jon
DC6 I reckon –

EDIT – whilst googling for a suitable picture HP81 beat me to it! 😀

ps.Jon – I know where the cut down prop is, haven’t seen the engine. Suspect it may be in storage.
Thanks for checking Rich, you now have a PM 🙂
