I just hope the fabric is Ok so it can be preserved like the FAA corsair 🙂 Would look amazing with it’s original paint exposed again.
Doesnt look likely given Bruce’s comment earlier in this thread –
“We have removed paint in a number of strategic locations, to confirm locations of markings, style of lettering and so on. It is likely however, that the fabric will be removed, in order to ensure that the wood is in good condition, and to allow for repairs as necessary.”
That said, doesnt mean the original fabric cant be preserved albeit not on the airframe!
Jon
I must be losing the plot….
What are we looking at, or supposed to making from this? Apart from gazing at the lovely Fiona, that is.
Look at the pattern on the floor behind her – remind you of any symbol associated with the Third Reich? 🙂
Jon
I ocasionally wonder what became of the archive NAPS/TAC had, as my family donated a full set of Lancaster mainplane blueprints to it, including the outer mainplane Jig drawings that my Grandfather produced (on his kitchen table at home) by modifying those for the Manchester mainplane.
As another current member of TAC, there is still an archive. So whilst I couldnt tell you what is in it, there is a decent chance those blueprints are still there.
Jon
Still being delayed by paperwork I am afraid to report…….
Jon
I have done all of the sums and its just too far away and i feel the cost could get out of control (in a perfect world i would be up there bidding against the scrapman), there has to be someone up north who wants to save her :dev2:
all the best Matt
Hmmmm, would fit nicely on the front lawn…..
Jon
Thank you for the information so far.
Is nice to see so many of the Hooton built machines still flying 🙂
Jon
Thanks for the words of encouragement David 🙂
Its one of those things that I suspect will go on for ever and a day! I just tend to look into things as and when they pop up in conversation etc
The T.21’s having cropped up recently after The Aeroplane Collection (TAC) acquired the remains of T.21B BMU, 1085, 9G-ABD

Would be nice to have a genuine HP built machine one day though!

Proposed EDO floats for the Percival Prince
10100 lbs water displacement (single float)
compared with
29400 lbs water displacement (single float)
EDO floats for the C-47
😎
Eek!!!
Ok, huge in comparison to a Prince then 🙂
Jon
There was a mass of proposed variants that, as far as I know, never got off the design board.
I have seen a GA drawing of this configuration and the floats are HUGE!
In the same pile of drawings there was also a GA of a jet powered version!!
Jon
That’s a bit of a state – that would be a challenge even to Jon H to fix that one:D
Oh I dont know, looks marginally better than the FB5! 😉
Jon
Well spotted jeepman….
What a pity that it appears people were more concerned with recovering the wreckage than the 3 crew. Doesn’t say much for the modern RAF “care” does it?
Given the three deceased crew members had been buried for nearly 50 years when the wreck was rediscovered not sure what you have taken offence at?
Taken from the same website –
“Plt Off Perry was also taken as a POW; the three dead crewmembers –
Sgts Garrity, Miller and Robertson, were buried locally but the graves
were `lost’ by the Russian authorities and their names are list on the
Runneymede memorial by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.”
Jon
It is – the front has completely fallen off.
Spares use only now!
Bruce
Indeed!

There’s a surplus sea prince wing at bruntingthorpe, i’ll check if it’s still there it’s surplus at the moment and in quite good nick it’s on the verge of being weighed in though so might have already gone, is this the sort of size your after
Can you let me know if it is still there and going spare – may yield some useful parts for Prince G-AMLZ.
Cheers,
Jon
If you want scale then might as well use the tower!

Above picture is “a scan of an official airport photo of Belfast G-ASKE, (which became XR362) at the terminal presumably on its first visit”. Details and picture link taken from http://www.nwan.co.uk

Changing topic slightly, what is with the urgent need for an Meatbox canopy – thought it already had one?
