Should answer your questions. 🙂

Got a pair of Andover panels surplus to requirements if you are interested Merkle. A project I was going to do but the Vampire FB.5 arriving put paid to that idea!
Jon
what i meant is that the slots are about 5/6mm wide on some of them, the corrosion has caused the slots to break down 🙁
Then in that case please ignore me!
the problem is mate, that half of them are so badly corroded that the slot for the screwdriver is practically a dish 🙁
If you are using a dzus screwdriver then it should fit perfectly in the dished slot as they have a curved tip! 🙂

Just a thought – did the Hunter have explosive canopies……? I dont think they did but happy to be corrected by some more knowledgeable.

My friend, you never know! Im still trying to work out how its feasible, for now, we’re going to get WR963 to a good serviceable and fast taxi status, then we can see about what the future may bring.
Well fingers crossed 🙂
Hopefully 🙂
Will let you all know more after the 14th of this month, the SPT has a meeting with Mr Collett so im sure ill know then. I would happily put another team together to take care of the running of the Rod for mike but im not sure what his plans are 🙂
Would be good to see both kept live and taxiable. Just a shame neither will ever fly again. 🙁
Jon
I suspect that is the paintscheme!
To check scrap the paint back, go down through the layers and see what you come across. Severly doubt it has ever been paint stripped so every layer of paint it has ever worn will still be there.
Jon
So we can bin TA122’s undercarriage leg we have on show?:D
Cees
Also can we have TA634 back at Speke now that you are falling over Mossies there? 😉
Joking aside impressive stuff. Must have been a good few years since two Mossies where parked next to each other.
Jon
Heh, just realised that exactly a year ago today I was stood on the apron at Blackpool looking at this aircraft along with the rest of the 748 fleet. What a difference a year makes hey!
Jon
Does this still count as preservation? 😛 In the meantime a 748 still hasnt made it into a museum collection…….
We paid G-BVOV a visit when she first arrived at Capernwray last year. Given the wings were chopped at the root, they have made a good job of bolting it back together.
Jon
Some of those cockpits even though they were on a scrap heap at the time still look better than my Vampire currently!
Jon
Whilst talking about transporting chunks of Vulcan, I wonder if any of the old hinged lamposts still exist along the route between Chadderton and Woodford?
Good chance all long gone now, but tickles me to think new street lighting paid for by Avro was part of the Vulcan program!
Jon
These would be the same tests deemed necessary to help keep XH558 airworthy.
As for no pictures will boil down to security, especially when you consider the Nimrod program is based there.
It will indeed be a sad say when she finally goes, but we are still blessed with a good number of tin triangles in this country, so perhaps attentions would be better turned to ensuring no more slip away as this one is a goner. 🙁
