If nothing else, picking up a D Grip for the FB5 would be nice. 😀

I know what you mean about the temptation to arrange all the parts together…

It is an essential part of this restoration lark.

I have spent months dismantling things, removing rotten timber, hunting around for new material to the correct spec and dimensions etc etc, so to spend half an hour last night pulling a few bits together was very rewarding. I would have trial fitted the wheel arch as well (it is in the background on one of the pictures somewhere) but that was being paint stripped at the time.

I will also find some pictures of progress on the pod tonight when I get home -probably not as impressive as this section but still, progress has been made 🙂

After a few weeks graft I am in danger of having the makings of a cockpit again…..

Nose cone and pedals just added as they were lying around and wanted to see how it looked 🙂 Did think about trying to balance the instrument panels on as well but that had the makings of a recipe for disaster!

That has to be getting on for nearly 20 years old now!

Also wasnt there another Carling advert with a Dambusters theme to it? Skipping a rolled up beach towel across a pool seems to ring a bell….

I like civies, especially the big prop-liners!

The ATP it just reminds me of that ghastly last gasp of the British motor and aviation industry, if the 748 was the HS equivelent of the BL Marina, then the ATP was the BAe equivelent of the Austin Rover Maestro!

    Prepares for incoming!

The 748 cant have been that bad given nearly 400 were built! Also dont forget it was Avro design – type 748 hence the name 🙂

Struggling to think of any other post war british civil designs that did that well… Only possible one that springs to mind is the Viscount.

As for the ATP well yes, cant really argue there…… 😀

    Hi Jon,

Your seat is in perfect as-new condition. My suggestion to you is to leave it as it is!

At the moment if its not wood it aint getting a look in 😉 Reminds me I should post a update on progress with VZ193.

No plans to do anything, but always curious as to what advice I can pick up along the way. You just never know when it might come in handy! 🙂

Done some reading and is the intercooler airduct, that if needed could be tapped for ram air ventilation if needed.

Something that has been bugging me for ages:p
What’s with the hole in the nose? Towing attachment for use as a glider?:diablo:

Air intake for cabin pressurization etc as far as I am aware 🙂

Also looks like Britannia, but not quite.
I think your hunch of it being a sort of early/trials Concorde grip is a good one.

Jon, what is that on top of your stick grip?

Having rebuilt two Brit ones it aint Brit. If nothing else it is too sophisticated!

As for the second question it is a ground handling “guns loaded” safety cap. One of those things I picked up somewhere and thought might as well fit!

ive only ever owned One stick, but give it away for free a few years ago towards a restoration of its original owner aircraft.. so it had to be done.. look forward to seeing what nice sticks are out there :):D

Would that be this one? 🙂

Hmmmmm 5000 + servicable Shackleton spares, even at a bargain price of around £10 per part you bust the 50K mark, can WR963 stretch that far?.

    John.

Ah but check the listing as the title is somewhat misleading.

For example, 1296 of those items are the contents of a box of rivets!

Post a picture and can probably tell you! Not least off all as I have a Prince panel sat behind me now as I am typing 😀

EDIT: just found the picture on another thread – NOT Prince either!
