I have a few pictures somewhere of a few of the bits Dave Stansfield has. Next question though is where…….hmm…… Wrote to him a couple of years ago and he was good enough to send some pictures with his reply.

Should have some of the Brooklands one at home.
Will check when I get home tonight 🙂

Jon,
I took SX300 & SX336 from this yard in 1973.
LA564 came via a third and fourth party but origianted from a scrap yard in Carlisle.
At the time, some wings at Warrington were thought to be Avro Athena. That is not a 100% rock solid ID.
Mark
Ah right – copied the id’s from a previous thread 🙂
Wish that yard was still there! No doubt housing or similar now.
Jon
Suspect nothing more than was involved with the mass scrapping of stuff at nearby Burtonwood, and like most scrappies then oddly just left in a pile for many a year (though in so many cases good job they did!).
Would this have also been the same yard Spitfires/Seafires SX336,SX300 & LA546 came from?
Jon
Well i said it was a beast..:D
Just surprised as that is 12 foot more that a Bristol Britannia unit which is 16ft. Also must have been some serious undercarriage to give over 13ft of clearance.
Jon
EDIT – Just checked and the whole unit was 13ft rather than just one blade.
who in there right mind would want to get in the way of eight 13′ diameter contra-rotating propellers
So it had a 26ft diameter prop assembly?!? Crikey
Jon
Sea Hawks are so beautiful.
I agree – hence why I bought the cockpit of one 😀
Jon
IN157 in its previous life was WF293 a FB.3 with the Royal Navy.
Jon
New , boxed Hawker SeaHawk nosewheel…..
It if is/was Sea Hawk then not Mk.3,4,5 or 6 as cant find that part number in the Vol 3. Shame as I am after one for my Sea Hawk!
Jon
I have got a feeling I know where the rumour came from and in fact was present when the conversation took place.
Will sleep on it and see if I can remember anything else.
Though in the meantime you can always check it against 496 at Kemble using google earth/maps to see how measurements compare 🙂
Jon
Hi Jon,
If what you have on the left is a Plug, Type F, 2-pin, Stores Ref. 5C/596, then you will want a Socket, Type F, 2-pin, Ref. 5C/597 to match it.
I think I have some out in the garage.
Yup that sounds like the one.
I foolishly thought that there would only be one size so happily bought the socket shown which has Stores Ref. 5C/599. Oh how wrong was I!?
Jon
Didn’t Anon on here say that he has got an F-4J UK (ie American type) cockpit under restoration?
Which is the one at Millom…………
Jon
Wasn’t there someone recently doing a F4 cockpit section? Individual, museum??

Should be the one you are on about 🙂

Closest have is a flying shot of 839 with 736 Sqn. I Know! like asking for someone’s photo and only getting a photo of their brother..We tried. 🙁
Indeed was worth a try. Thank you very much for taking the time to look though 🙂
The search goes on!
