    Hi all,
I see that another combat report has been placed on a well known auction site. Sorry I am unable to work out how to place a link.
You may recall a thread a few months ago regarding faked and forged goods and the £200.00 I paid for one a few years ago. The one I purchased was also from 303 Squadron and allegedly signed by Josef Frantisek.
Mine was declared a fake by forum users who I have no doubt were correct.
Mine is exactly the same as the one listed in size and colour.
    Questions are:-
Is the one advertised on ebay genuine?
If not – how many of these copies/forgeries are known to exist.
    All the best
    Gerry

I’ve seen it before, it looks horten/gliderish!

Thats what I thought, have been trawling the net and it looks more gliderish, Im going to go bid on it i think, it looks intriguing!!! who knows it might be a ‘rare’ item, ive let too many things slip through my hands in the past and have a feeling that if i let this item ‘slip through my hands’ I will regret it!

Fantastic pics of the 110 in Germany today.
Here are some pics taken by the recovery team whilst I was there in 1991.
Plenty of other pics of Hurricanes, Tomahawks, Hampden, 109’s ect.

Thanks for posting these pics, amazing!

I have an original German scwimmveste (or however you spell it !) belonging to Wolfgang Teumer whose ME-109 is at RAF Hendon. It was stuck in an RAF pilots footlocker until he gave it to me 8 years ago. He got it from Teumer at Manston. So must be a fake !!!,Teumer must have made it between getting out of the 109 and being out of the plane !.
Apologies for the above sentence, but one of the negative points of collecting is some people enjoy knocking any items that are unique down. .

I agree some people seem to be happy to knock down unique items, Ive been on the recieving end of knock downs many a times

My point refers to the B-17 engines

I offered to look after them correctly but this was declined by the beach owner ten years ago.

I know these B17 engines well and can confirm they are preserved by Barry for all to enjoy. Along with the Spitfire ( tupperware indeed!!), and many other artifacts from our aviation heritage, they are displayed in an ideal location next to one the most famous airbases in the Southwest, if not the country. If they hadn’t been offered to Barry and Barry had not been able to accomodate them, goodness knows where they’d be now……thrown back to the sea to continue to rot?? ….forming a breakwater somewhere, forever forgotten. I’m pleased to hear that one other engine is also in another museum close to the crash site.

This is one B17 and crew whose story will not be forgotten quickly thanks to one dedicated individual who found these engines a home.

As for the “attack” on Barry’s Spitfire ……..well at least he’s got one, and a fine lady she is too !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Keep it up Baz!

    Missed the point totally

I offered to recover these engines from the beach and have them imersed in purpose built tanks with fresh water that would be changed a couple times a month to remove the salt etc.

This offer was declined and they now sit in the open air rotting away as far as I know.

Perhaps you would like to share you concerns as your “not sure about it” ?

I wasn’t to sure if it has been rebound but it seams other people might think the same.

I have a sneaking suspicion that ‘Me109E’ is actually the seller. Would you like to comment Nick?

    Bruce

Yeah I’ll quite happily comment, the seller is Dan and he lives in Plymouth, so sorry Battle, Bruce doesn’t get the prize.
