Seems so puny compared to a Nimitz…….I know, everything else does, but its all i have to go against. I know, Ill never forget the first time i saw a nimitz class carrier, i believe it was the TR……i was about 10 years old, i was in awe…….just no way to describe its size. And then, before 9/11 i could just drive onto Norfolk Naval base and drive around, including stopping at mccdonalds that was literally right in front of “carrier row” at Norfolk…..dam i miss the good ole days.
But, whoever drew these drawings, my hats off to ya…..great job you have 2 thumbs up from me, you did a stand up job, just for the hell of it.
not quite yet……but it wont be long, at least thats what i read and considerations were being made for a QF-16 because of the ammount of types available for destruction……
Did anyone else read that washington post article one person hyperlinked……
“$400 million for 2 Joint Strike Fighters to replace F-16s that were lost in combat…..” :diablo: Gotta love the newspapers lol
I heard it won’t be on the ground at either airshow. Fly in from some other base (Lakenheath?), do it’s routine, and fly back.
Thats probable……its been the scuttlebutt for the past few years….we cant let the limeys let alone the frogs get a good look at our plane for godsakes :dev2:
Don’t think so. B-1Bs are frequent visitors in Europe, too. Correct me if I am wrong but B-2A appeared on RIAT in Cottesmore several times, too..
If I remember correctly, the B-1 and B-2 have shown up at both Paris and Farnborough in past times, I believe an SR-71 even did at some point also……
so no, this is not the beginning of some big export push…more of a….”Hey, look at my new toy, ain’t it cool? And in case you were wondering, who the best of the best is, don’t look at the wall, its right here…:diablo: “
Will a Raptor demo in the UK be as good as the American demos, i say this as i wonder if some nanny state laws will mean a poorer flight show/ saying that though Ive seen some good shows here in the past, just curious how it might differ if at all.
It may differ, depending on the size of the “box” they’re allowed to fly in at Farnborough……at least here in the states at most of the shows Ive been to, as long as they don’t overfly the crowd (most of the time, i think it comes down to flying straight and level or not…) they can do anything…..Of course there is always a minimum height agl and ceiling to deal with and whatnot, but I figure the only difference will be the size of the “airshow box”.
Personally, a lot of times, Ive found the best show is the pre/arrival day show of the aircraft, just pilots having a good time, burning some fuel before they land…..its sort of impromptu/off the cuff fly off if you will.
Probably another decision from the 9th circus court of appeals.
With all due respect, I think you fail to miss one major point. There is a huge difference between conservativism and liberalism. The problem is not the idealologies, but rather the politicans…..who skew the lines between the two.
And just so you know, I am a “Republican” who has a very good chance of not even voting in this election. I am a conservative first, I am tired of towing the party line. And yes I realize the GOP is a big tent, but when the tent starts to encompass so much liberal bs,I cant support it, Ill stay in my own tent.
And if were going to hell in a handbasket, im along for the ride, but theres no way in hell im going to continue voting to go in that direction just for the sake of the party.
Well since Ive only owned three vehicles so far….
1) 1991 Mazda 626 2.2 4cyl……stripped out, power nothing…..but she took everything I gave her, sold her after 130000 miles in 4 years…..not one problem, except for the time the brakes failed in the high heat of south florida on the highway….the problem never reappeared……
2) 2002 Nissan Maxima…..my first “new” car…..loved her, great power, could cruise at 120 mph for hours….good on gas…..full of kit…..sold her in a year to buy number 3
3)2004 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Dually 4×4 Diesel…….Fully loaded with a few extras……Its amazing that this truck at 8500 lbs will do 120+ mph and sound even better at the same time :diablo:

Id have to agree, as a LWF for today the grippen is the hands down winner. With the Swiss buying F/A-18Cs pretty recently, i see little/no reason to “upgrade” them unless they wanted to further expand their air forces capability….
Actually instead of heading south by 30 miles im headed NWW by 60 or so miles to Ft Indiantown Gap, home of one of the Stryker Brigades, least one of the guard brigades. But ive been to Aberdeen many a time, I miss the old Armed Forces Day show they did back in the late 80s, nothing like seeing a
M-1 come over a 60 degree hill 20 feet in front of you at full bore haha…..let alone the live firing demo…
I have just one question. ive read through these past post on the supersonic-agility of the Typhoon, whom im sure is no slouch.
My question is, if anyone has any credilbe answers/reasons/ideas……..how does the F-22 compare to the Typhoon in the supersonic maneuverability arena?
😀 OK, well Ive said my peace for the time being, trying not to be too naive. But, all good things must come to an end at some point, and mine has come now. I’m leaving for a few days, and not that I’m important, but i bid all of you a fond farewell.
Hopefully, since I’m staying on a local US Army installation for the next 5 days i will have something else to add, as in picture and first hand accounts. The installation I am stay at also has a bombing/strafing range where local units from the north east of the US frequent…..Ive seen A-10s in action before. So ill try go get some pic and any stories I can get.
In the meantime, why don’t ya all have a beer at the local pub or whatever you may call it in your home country. For i wish someday, even if its only for an hour, we all could get together, drink a few beers, shoot the shiat, and 5 minutes after we left go on hating each other 😀 But for those glorious 60 minutes, life was grand 😉
Oh please, don’t mention the British Empire. There’s actually a a book out right now, entitled something like, forget the Yanks, where’d the Britts get off? something like that. Very amusing, yet completely pointless at this point in history.
Oh and btw, next time a world crisis happens, Im all for the US to stay out of it unless it conflicts with our economic interest…..yes I said it……..And then we can trully be villified for only caring about money, and i will have to stop arguing against that idea.
So basically, with all due respect to everyone on this board…..A few private corporations control everything thats goes on in the world today….
If that indeed is true, God help us all, that is as bad as a one world government.
