:eek::eek:duck!! just had a very low C130 – in a very strange patchwork (green and grey- different panels) paint job fly over our house (about 1 mile north east of Uttoxeter) – it could not have been more than 400-500ft – heading north west!
Spotted this afternoon pottering due south over my house in Doveridge (near Uttoxeter) (Me and my better half waved but as it was on top of us I doubt if they saw us looking silly in the back garden!) I waved and then later flying above the A50 towards Derby what looked like a very nice US livered Piper Cub(?)
Anyone know where it is based as I would love a closer look!
Beaver trip from Rose Bay is highly recomended – especially the take off and landing amongst the popular sailing club/school!! – great way to see Sydney!
As JDK said get yourself to Melbourne!!:)
To all who organized the AA event – a great evening all round – well done!!
Room for improvement?? Err a little bit warmer next time would be good!…..err.. the only other thing I can think about is perhaps being able to peep into the hangers??
Every time I have been to AA I am always impressed by the general attitude of staff members – they always seem really pleased to be doing what they are doing – something which is rare these days – especially on a cold night in December!
The Heron in her new paint is looking gorgeous – anyone know what her plans are?
Thanks once again!
Just seen her sister looking splendid at Cairns Airport yesterday!
Will try and get a pic on my way out today!
Hi – You can certainly get them from the SallyB sales unit (two versions are available – as she is now or in 447 bomb group colours she wore in the mid 1980s) or if you can’t get to an airshow try emailing the office through the website:
http://sallyb.org.uk/index.php
AFAIK, they were only every sold new as individual models through B17 Preservation. Corgi provided a limited edition run. (You could however buy SallyB with a P51 and P47 in a pack elsewhere)
Don’t forget the important bit! – any profit goes to a very good cause!!:D
off topic well about the RNHF. I was looking to see what displays this year the Sea fury was going to be at but its only the two seater verison what has happened to the Sea Fury I not seen it or heard about it has it gone in for Maintenance I checked the RNHF website but it only says about the two seater Sea Fury
Manston – from the RNHF website:
‘Meanwhile VR930’s Bristol Centaurus engine has been removed from the airframe, crated up and awaits transportation to the USA for rebuild. There are on-going attempts to find and buy a spare Centaurus for VR930’
Back to topic: Great news about the Sordfish – she looks great!
Regards
Rich
Hi – Have not been to Verbier but done a bit of touring around Switzerland. We stayed in Evolene (a couple of valleys up from Verbier) which was about 30 mins drive from Sion.
Sion is worth a trip for a bit of Swiss airforce action. Its also a nice town.
The whole area is very beautiful – lots of walks – in Evolene you could drive to the foot of a glacier – and the colour of the lakes/rivers is just amazing.
Montreux IIRC is about 1.5 hours from Sion – along the flat bit betwen the mountains! Montreux has a ‘Nice’ – south of france sort of feel to it – check out Freddy Mercury looking over Lake Geneva!
We also caught a train through the mountain (like a MK1 channel tunnel) to Interlaken – and you can’t get more Swiss than Interlaken!
Also if you can get to Zurich you must visit the Dubendorf – the Swiss Airforce museum (treat yourself to a Ju air flight on a Ju52). Luzern is also a very beautiful city – and a fabulous museum there with a Coronado!
enjoy!

Hi Peter/Bruce
I received an email from the SallyB office earlier today with the sad news, apparently Keith suffered a Brain haemorrhage and unfortunately his condition was untreatable.
I didn’t really know what to say but felt I should post it as I know there are quite a few people on the forum who knew him.
Terribly sad. His presence and wit will certainly be missed lots and lots by all within the SallyB team.

Thanks Bruce for making a sticky
.
Ren frew – Yep didnt realise – not been out much to these sorts of events! 😉 – I will remember for next time. 😮
Just hope they don’t start doing the same at other privately run events on private land such as airshows!
