I have just read your trip report and seen your pics – what can I say – Im very very Jealous! – and looking outside today and seeing a few puffy white clouds and blue – I want to be up there now!!
you are a very lucky chap indeed.
Oh well – I will have to make do with a trip from EMA to Glasgow in a couple of weeks! not the same as a nice trip in a rather older boeing I was lucky to have last october.

just seen your post from the other day – saw the DC6 as well – heard it take off from EMA – ever so distinctive sound – at midnight one night last week – I live about 7 miles fro EMA – sound seems to travel further in the dead of the night!!
Regarding the Brietling team – have I missed something? I heard that OFMC were talking of a hunter display team as a replacement to the fighters – but Brietling have just launched the L39(?) team – is this instead of the hunters?
There does not seem to be any connection between the new team and the OMFC

I get goose bumps every time I hear the track by Enya (can’t remember the title at the moment) which used to accompany the vulcan’s display everywhere she went. A very moving and suitable track – I wonder if they will use it again if she flys!

Help!!! – I missed the last two episodes!! – been on hols and the video recorder didn’t work (or was it me not setting it right??!) – Does anyone have a copy on video – I will happily pay costs?
Cheers

Maybe with the number of large shows gradually decreasing – and the high insurance costs demanded by RIAT for example – There will be an increase in the smaller fly in type of events??
Would a large number of smaller events encourage the operators to visit more events, thus spreading the cost of the annual insurance bill?
Don’t know just thinking aloud!

Lots of interesting stuff been posted here. Thanks everyone for responding:)
Thinking about where my interest got me – I got into airfix kits as a child and then into photography – I have boxes full of pictures with dots in the middle of them – is that a spitfire or a vulcan again!
Then my first big airshow was a trip to Alconbury in about 1980. That got me interested in warbirds. Than after passing my driving test I ventured south with my sister to my first Great Warbirds airshow at Wroughton! She got us to sign up with the SallyB club and Ive been a member ever since – becoming ground crew about five years ago!
Shame I dont live nearer to Duxford though!!;)

I always wondered what had happened to Neil. Im sure he displayed in a spitfire at the Leicester Airshow in 1977 – My first ever airshow – aged 9!!. I remember that display today – never seen a spit do anything like that since.
Standing at BHX yesterday I was amazed by all the people watching – not just ‘spotters’ but business bods as well! – and then there were all the yellow jackets airside – never seen so many!
My friend summed it up when concorde was waiting in the queue to take off – there was a ‘my travel light’ airbus in front – He said the two aircraft were generations apart in time, technology and purpose – but the wrong way round!.
And they call it progress!! – but as always, it all comes down to money!
Im glad that in its final week flying I have been able to witness the sheer beauty of Concorde – up where she belongs – and what a take off it was!! – something to remember and tell the children about in a few years time.
How about the IGN in France for B17s – not sure of the numbers. Also the fire bomber operators – not only for B17s but other aircraft as well!

I was at Wymeswold a couple of years ago doing some trials and all the runways still exist. Someone told me that there were plans to restore the tower (to be used for training) but nothing seems to have happened since.
I have a friend who used to work at Fields there – I will ask them if they have any photos/info.
I live close too – infact looking out my back bedroom window I can see the water tower on the horizon!!
thanks guys for info:)
Hi Sat
The best place near Toronto would have to be Canadian Warplane Heritage at Hamilton – about 2 hours drive from Toronto City. That is as near as you can get to a ‘Duxford’
