Ren frew – Yep didnt realise – not been out much to these sorts of events! 😉 – I will remember for next time. 😮
Just hope they don’t start doing the same at other privately run events on private land such as airshows!
Steve and Cal – All I wanted to do was practice my action panning!
I just wished they:
1/ made the information clear on the website and tickets rather than it being hidden in the small print – its only natural that people will want to take photos of the action. (there were plenty of cameras about!)
2/ Even if they do put the info in the small print list it under the point relating to photography.
PMN – yes think I will get a olympus with a 200mm and 2x converter – that will give me 800mm!! Therefore the rule kind of defeats its own argument!
Just checked on the F1 website and it states well into the small print again that 300mm is the maximum……..hmm I must have been lucky last year!:)

cheers guys! – it was quite difficult taking pics as there was a fly problem! – they were attracted to black things – so while framing a shot all I could see in the corner of my eye were many flys walking on the camera! – mind they were not so bad in Perth compared to Exmouth up north!
Baliga – good shots from San diego – did they use Midway for the ‘Red bull airport’!
Great idea for a meet up – I don’t mind helping out with some logistics!
another option could be:
http://www.tyabbairshow.com.au/
on 9th March
or the RAAF Museum Air Pagent at Point Cook on 24th Feb
(unfortunatly I can’t make the latter on the day, as its my better half’s big birthday and it would not go down well if I said – see ya Im going to an airshow! Hmm if only I could get her a flight in the Roulettes I could go then!!)
JDK – interesting shot from the Birddog! – the shadow looks like a rubber powered model I made years ago especially with the wire undercart!
Another pom, checking in from Melbourne! – Just been to Point Cook today to watcha cracking disply by Rob Fox in his Bird dog. Expecting to see you in the back James!
Growler – Just got back from WA and visited Bull Creek – great museum – lots of interesting stuff – but of course the lanc was my fav! also stayed for the Red Bull air race which was great! – Enjoyed WA a lot – especially ‘under’ perth! Coppers are friendly too 😉
Much to much speculation! Calm down everyone!!
Im sure she will fly when :
just keep watching and stop speculating!;)
I was there and I think it was 89, 90 or 91 cant be more specific than that other than I didnt have my driving licence in the early 80s!
Eh up!
Happy Birthday! – hope you are having a good day!
books look interesting!
think cold is good for anything fizzy!
interesting sub title ont he Aircraft regognition – ‘not to be taken in the air’ – would it cause a distraction hazard for the pilot trying to match up pics with what he is seeing??
Rich
Cheers Robbo
I wondered how it worked – now I know!
it all makes sense now!
Paulc – yeah and before I remembered which setting to have it on I got many bad shots!!! – but the thing I was wondering was how does the IS work?
is it in relation to the background – so in position 2 when you are panning it ignores the moving background – but what I was thinking was if you have a perfect clear blue sky there would not be a background for the system to relate to – therfore in theory you could leave on position 1???
I tried this and it doesnt seem to work – but I was just wondering ‘how it does it’!!
Wasn’t the Connie at Wroughton originally acquired by Aces High for the second series?? – if it was, shame the second series didn’t happen!
I have a similar pic to those above taken at the Alconbury airshow in 82 – but I cant find it- not that it adds anything!
Were these anything to do with the collection which were at Bruntingthorpe in the early-mid 90s?
nice pics! – good to see you relative Ferifat is getting around a bit!!
any more of the DC6??
can’t comment on the self cleaning sensor but the dust protection – ie the sealing is not in the same league as the D200 or more expensive canons. It seems to be little bits of squishy stuff stuck on in various opening doors – not a full seal around them!
Handling wise the 40D feels about the same as the 30D – the LCD is nice being bigger – its like going from the 20D to the 30D again and the viewfinder is a lot brighter.
