There is: Brize, Lyneham et al etc? I don’t think Scampton could fulfil that role now anyway.
Lyneham is closing in 2012.
I also noted that the Tiger Moth which hit the cow, and featured in a YouTube video also appeared…..
Pilot, 45, 8200hrs on type…. That’s an awful lot of flying on a Tiger Moth, maybe a typo?
Maybe not, total flying experience 13,000 hrs. Not bad at 45! No wonder he made such a good job of the forced landing (cow excepted:eek:).
The wings do exist and have always been stored on the far side of the airfield to the best of my knowledge. They were moved from the hanger by the fire dump to the current storage hanger some years ago and were next to the aircraft last time I saw it. They are the original wings for the aircraft. It flew into cosford in 1981 bit difficult with out wings! can we finaly kill the tale of it not haveing any wings Please.
I don’t think it flew in. I think it was a long time before 1981 that the last flight of a Valetta took place.
Are you getting confused with the Varsity?
Same question was asked here yesterday.

Relatively new Memorial to Docking Airfield.

Wasn’t that the one that had the stick pinched out of it?
Taken July 2006.

It was particularly disapointing to loose G-BEYF as well this year.
Sadly G-ATIG was broken up in the summer.
City of Norwich Aviation Museum have G-ASKK on display.
Reading on another forum I see there was a Special Meeting at the Calgary Aerospace Museum last week to discuss the future of the aircraft.
The museum made it clear that ”that they have no desire to retain the airplane”.

It is now up to the Council to decide what to do with it, and they have set a deadline of March next year to come up with an answer. (Thats a lot of thinking time).
Well its gone. Does the lucky winner frequent this forum ?
TomW only finished repainting it last year, so I doubt very much it’s in for paint – unless they are touching it up?
Adrian
The paint did look good; however it was being towed by an Air Livery tug,
and was being positioned in to one of their spray bays.
So one can only assume…..
Excellent idea. Bid placed.;)
Spoke to my neighbour last night and I can confirm he has a photograph of all 23 squadron. Francis appears on it, along with Frederic.
Interestingly he has met the crew of the other Mosquito which went on the same mission as PZ174 and was able to shed some light on what happened.
Are you the same group that was looking to recover the aircraft about 10 years ago?
Tibbenham is about as good as it gets
Moggy
My vote would be Attlebridge. Plenty of buildings still standing all the runways, most of the peri -track and one or two loop dispersals.

Did all the Everrett stock originally go out to tender, or does it not work like that anymore:confused:
