Capitalist world.

I see many of these suggestions are aimed at the “common man”, But what about the rich…a 24 pound a day congestion charge will prevent the average guy from driving in London, but not the rich.

Something has to be done to spread the burden.
What about private jets, multiple homes that hhave to be heated all year, and the MD’s Rolls?

Well it’s the common man that is making most of the pollution, while he works for the rich. So that’s the way of the Capitalist world, tough isn’t it. Let’s face it, if you aint at the top of the Tree, you’ll just have to go along with it.

Something has to be done, but hopefully it will be reasonable.
I just read a media story on Al Gore’s visit to (I believe) San Francisco.
He arrived in a hybrid Toyota . It looked environmentally aware.
But his motorcade included two motorcycles, two limos, and a pickup truck.

I mentioned this to a coworker today and he said his sister works for a large New York bank and Gore was there seeking funding for a project. THe appearently got nervous when he couldn’t find a CD ROM for a presentation. My friensd sister helped find it. It seems he left it on the private jet he was using.
I don’t mean to pick on Gore, but i hove any cuts and costs are shared equally.
I hope all this doesn’t relagate the “common” people to a third class existence whuile the rich and influential get to keep multiple mansions, private jets and fleets of cars.

Even the USA will have to make an effort to be more environmentally friendly. The days of gas guzzling cars may be a thing of the past. If the US fails to fall in line, and reduce it’s CO2 emmisions, then it will be seen by the rest of the world ,as a country that dosn’t care about the Planet, or it’s inhabitants. That wont be good for the US, or the rest of us. Equally India and China must also fall in line, these developing countries should have no excuse for not reducing their CO2 levels.

That dosn’t mean we should not try to be more environmentally friendly.

They wouldn’t dare to sell their nukes to anyone who was bound to use them. If the weapons were then used then the source could be traced to North Korea by studying the isotope composition of the weapon, then the brown stuff would hit the fan for the N.Koreans bigtime. If their weapon was proved to have been detonated against another nuclear power, you can bet that there would be a retaliatory nuclear strike.

Kim Jong Il is alot of things, but stupid and suicidal he is not.

I didn’t realise it would be possible to identify the isotope composition, of an exploded nuclear device, which would lead back to the supplier. Thanks for putting me straight on that one, always nice to learn something new. However it may still be possible for terrorists to steal some plutonium from another country, and use this in a nuke. Fortunately I understand it’s very difficult to construct a nuke, without specialist knowledge. Hopefully NK won’t build a basic device, for someone else to install the Plutonium, from a stolen source. Otherwise this could make tracing the origin of the device impossible.

THINK ABOUT YOUR ENVIRONMENT..

All this one sided environmental evangelism is becoming very tiresome.Any scientific hypothesis has more than one point of view so why do we never hear any other angle on climate change?
The UK contributes something like 2% to this, so in reality anything we do matters little.It has to be tackled on a global scale, not just by swelling government coffers via a simple knee jerk reaction to an economists report.
Just an excuse to raise taxes by making us all feel guilty I fear.

Well judging by the amount of Fireworks around here tonight, there is plenty of money being wasted, in the process of polluting the Air we breathe. So perhaps if severe Green taxes were introduced, less money would be wasted on fireworks , Gambling and Booze. Lets start thinking about the environment we live in, instead of wasting money on self gratification. We also need to stop over development in Towns, and think about retaining green land for the environment. However I guess we are stuck with over development.
All over development does, is make the property developer richer, such are the evils of capitalism.

We need to show other Countries the way to think Green, in 2007.
NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT.

That’s an interesting argument, but if they can develop the nukes so that they are small enough to be concealed or at least deliverable, then they could be a useful deterrent, wouldn’t you say? They could hide them in a cave, and threaten to use them on any Korea or any staging grounds for an invasion force.

You could have a point there, especially if they have sold them to Terrorists around the world. The North Koreans would have the edge, and even nuking them woudn’t help.

The way forward.

It’s about time we realised, the effect we are having on the environment and the Planet. If this means having a lower standard of living, then so be it. If we can show the world the way to go, whilst maintaining a reasonable standard of living, it will be a good thing. We can make plenty of changes to our life styles, which would help, here are a few.

Less Holidays abroad.

Smaller Car.

Smaller House.

More cycling and walking.

Using less energy.

Using less Water.

Less Rubbish.

Spend more on Green taxes, and less on yourself.

This is the way forward, let’s hope we all make an effort to reduce our abuse of the Planet.

Let’s hope the Government quickly brings in Green reforms, before it’s to late.
