This is something which realy frustrates me, the UK has the 5th largest economy in the world and a population of 60 million people (nothing small about it), the resources are available within the country there is just not the political will to mobilise them.
I think it will need a bit more than that to win the war, something on a larger scale perhaps. Not worth contemplating, unless you want to set the world alight. We don’t want any more wars, life’s hard enough as it is.

why would they have to go to Nth Korea? loads of discounted former soviet warheads available!
anyway If the terrorists want to go ” Nuclear ” they could make their own without too much difficulty.
I don’t think it’s that easy to make a nuclear bomb, we would have known about it by now. Soviet warheads for sale? I don’t think setting up a warhead would be that easy, just think of the weight of the thing. The rest I will leave to your imagination….

WELL AND TRULY SNOOKERED.
the ones we have now
I do wish the upper echelons of society, would come and live with the ordinary people. Then they might realise just how life in Britain really is. Then they would see for themselves the problems that exist in Britain. Britain 2006 is totally different, to what it was 30 years ago. A multicultural society such as ours, is dependent on understanding and tolerance between different cultures. For this reason alone, it is imperative we live together peacefully. I know this is stating the obvious, but it is relevant to the present military situation abroad. Others might say we can fight the extremists within our midst, but at what cost to Britain as it is now. We have well and truly snookered ourselves, and there is no easy answer to the problem. You see common sense thinking, may have left us in a better position , but of course common sense is a thing of the past, isn’t it.

A WARNING.
I’d choose A…….The further they are away from me the better (for them I mean!!!!!!) Mark 😀 😀 😀
Adding to that, I would prefer not to engage that enemy. The present situation in Afghanistan and elsewhere, leaves us vulnerable to attack here. Using a little of that missing common sense, and pulling out, might make Britain a safer country, than it is at present. Or we can carry on as we are, and reap the consequences of our actions. I just hope things don’t get out of hand, the future of our country is at stake.

I don’t find North Korea to be any kind of a threat. If anything, the United States have a higher chance than any other country in the world to use nuclear weapons, and they have used them, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or have we seemed to have forgoten that and the 214,000 people who have died in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 😡
I hope your right on NK, lets hope this crisis ends, and some sanity returns.
I also do beleive that no more nuclear weapons should be created. If we are trying to create a peacefull society, then why are countries today creating more and more powerfull weapons of mass distruction? All nuclear weapons should begin being dismantled to prevent the option of them being handed into the “wrong hands”. Todays cities are getting bigger and bigger, and imagine the amount of casulties if the nuclear bomb was dropped over cities such as Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, London etc. The thought of it is horrible enough. All we can do i wish for world peace and the safety of our future generations.
The most destructive nuke is the Hydrogen bomb, it’s destructive power is frightening. However nk only have the Atom bomb, fortunately. Yes, it’s destructive, but compared to an HB it’s childs play. Nice world we live in isn’t it, we are stuck with the bomb, it cannot be un invented. I am going to be optimistic, and assume things will improve with time, when a little more thought has gone into how many ordinary people will die, should it be used. These weapons are not to be fooled around with, as I am sure you’ll agree.
Its a shame that governments have enough to create such weapons and yet not have enough for basic food and medical supplies for its residents.
That’s right, I find it hard to understand myself. perhaps it’s to do with power and ambition, getting in the way of logical thinking.

Pandoras box…
I guess nobody wants to live in fear. US constant threats to North Korea and its actions against Iraq and Afghanistan made it absolutely necessary for NK to go Nuclear. I guess KIM acheived on goal and that was to “take him seriously”. Time shall tell if it was for the good of NK or for the worse.
Now Iran has a good excuse to develop Nuclear weapons. Fortunately neither Iran or NK have nuclear subs. So in effect both these countrys are sitting targets for our nuclear subs. It is sad to realise, that these third world countrys, seem to think they will be much safer with the Bomb. However what they fail to see, is the reverse is true. They have in effect put themselves in a dangerous position, which may result in their annihilation. When are Human beings going to realise, that Satans weapons wont protect them. Any nuclear attack on the west, will result in massive retaliation. Lets hope there will come a time, when Human beings will say enough is enough, and live together in peace.

Lots of Fun.
A lot of that is based on urban myths and selective media reporting. And the point remains, would people rather have a tightly regulated industrial safety culture or a return to the days before the early 70’s take off of industrial safety improvement? And doing a RA is hardly hard, for a start once you set up a decent template system you can use these and adjust them as required for any changes for the particular job, and even if you start from scratch using the HSE specimen RA form is not dificult. Everybody does a mental RA for everything they do whether they realise it or not, the regs have just formalised this and left an audit trail. I work in an industry where the internal safe systems of work are extremely tight with permits to work, system failure analysis, job safety analysis etc, way in advance of anything a school teacher would ever have to do or a light changer, and honestly don’t find it to be a big deal, and I’d rather take the time to do the paper work than take a short cut and fry somebody because of a simple hazard that should be identified and neutralised prior to starting the job.
Yes indeed, in your industry H&S is of vital importance, especially where microwave radiation is concerned. But a School teachers main job is to teach Children, or it used to be in my younger days. We didn’t have all this H&S stuff, and we didn’t have problems at school, even in the engineering dept. We also had a Farm and horticultural garden, and we got along without lots of accidents. Probably because any larking around with Forks etc would lead to you visiting the Headmaster, for the appropriate punishment. If kids fell over in the playground and hurt themselves, they went to the school nurse, who put them right. I just think todays kids need toughening up a bit, not over protection. But then I am of a different generation like others on here, who will probably recall what I am going on about. We even threw snowballs at each other, now that was risky wasn’t it. 😀 Musn’t forget that teacher who threw the Blackboard rubber at us, narrowly missing us( intentionally of course). 😀 :diablo: :p School was fun in those days..

The FINAL COUNTDOWN.
Supposing North Korea sells it’s Nuke knowhow to a Terrorist organisation, we could be in a bit of a pickle, or any other country for that matter. Time is not on our side, a small Nuclear device could create havoc, even proving who supplied and built it could be a problem. From today, we are no longer living in a safe world, unlike the cold war, this is a very dangerous game of chess.
